Damn. Not the outcome I wanted, but the better team won. And Vogt...wtf?

I have to admit that I like the Rays and the way that they play. They've got some great hitters, they're very aggressive on the bases, and they move their runners. They're solid on defense and have some pretty good arms.

That said, Go Brewers!

Interesting note in The Athletic:

So do we call this the Freddy Peralta World Series? Or the Jake Bauers World Series?

As recently as last year's NLCS, Peralta was a Brewer, before being traded to the Mets last offseason, then the Rays at the deadline.

Bauers' time with the Rays was less productive — he played 96 games there in 2018 before they traded him to Cleveland in the deal that sent ... drumroll, please ... Yandy Díaz to the Rays.

Drew Rasmussen is also a former Brewer. He was drafted by them in 2018, made his MLB debut for Milwaukee in 2020, and included in the trade for Willie Adames.

So the top starters for both teams were all developed in the Brewers' minor league system.

From Yahoo Sports:

The get-in price for Friday's World Series opener in Milwaukee currently sits at $2,442 (via Gametime), making it by far the most expensive Game 1 ever. The previous record? $1,125 for Cubs-Indians in 2016.

Looks like there is a healthy appetite for the Small Market Series.

Spent 1300 total on a 3 day trip to Tampa to go to game 3. Would love to see a home game, but can't justify spending twice what I paid to go to a road game and get an extra few days in the sun.

From The Athletic's Ken Rosenthal:

No matter what type of economic system comes out of baseball's next labor agreement, the low-payroll clubs are officially out of excuses.

The Brewers and Rays ranked 19th and 27th in luxury-tax payroll, yet produced the best regular-season records in their respective leagues and now will meet in the World Series. They are proof such teams can succeed in a system the league says is broken and untenable. And they are hardly a fluke, as their repeated trips to the postseason have shown.

I'll say it again: Payroll disparity is a legitimate concern. The labor agreement should be adjusted to put small-market teams on a more level economic playing field. But this bears repeating, too: The coming labor Armageddon is much more about the owners' desire to raise their franchise values than it is about competitive balance.

Those who think a salary cap and floor will rescue teams such as the Pirates and the Reds should ask why those teams are not as successful as the Brewers, Rays and Guardians in the first place. It's certainly not because they're getting outspent by massive amounts.

No, it's because the Brewers, Rays and Guardians are more innovative, show greater proficiency in scouting and player development, build better cultures, make better decisions.

Doesn't that cover, like, half of Tampa's payroll?  Must be nice to play in a market with all that money.

I don't think it's an exaggeration to say the Brewers and Rays saved baseball.

It's just not for the reasons you think. In April, Miz concussed CB Bucknor into retirement after this https://www.reddit.com/r/baseball/s/IsuYe1yby8

During my Marquette daze, I loved tailgating at County Stadium. Only one time was I so ... um ... less than completely alert that I didn't make it into the ballpark for the game.

Given the prices these folks paid for their tickets, I hope they're sober enough to make their way into AmFam.
