Marquette will be a tourney team next season

It might seem like a strange time to point this out, but with the portal additions of a quick afoot post defender and a drought-busting scorer, plus the redshirts and recruits joining the fray, Marquette could be a tournament team next year.
Inside guys: Portal A, Pearson, Parham, Owens, Egbuonu, Clark, (Hamilton).
Outside guys: James, Portal B, Stevens, Walker, Norman, Miletic
Redshirt: Phillips, Johnston.
Based on his last radio show, Shaka seems as though he wants Hamilton to stay in the program, but who knows if privately he would prefer him to play somewhere where his abilities could translate to being good enough to be in the rotation. Clarion, a D-2 school in Pennsylvania, wanted him out of high school. Perhaps the coaches there would be interested. Would they want him? I could see that going either way. So, if Hamilton transfers, keep the other scholarship open.
Jones is graduating, so it's up to him if he wants to play another year elsewhere.
In the past two Shaka radio shows, Norman, Miletic and Pearson all mentioned Walker's great court vision. He's a 3-point shooter as well, so if his defense is not a giant liability, he could help.
Johnston seems like a good candidate for a redshirt.
Phillips has broad shoulders, looks as if he will fill out, can block shots, jump, and has a beautiful 3-point shot. A year as a redshirt, adding strength, polish, a feel for the game, and a new routine for free throws (.357) could benefit him greatly. He's supposed to be a senior in high school, so it always pays to remember that and helps to explain his 2-point field goal shooting: 0 for 11. Hasn't made a field goal inside the arc yet.
Owens has way too much arc on his 3-point shot, so if he can't fix that, he shouldn't take 3-pointers. Turn him into a power forward, where he can use his quickness as an advantage on the boards and scoring down low. He played a solid game at the 4 in place of Parham at Georgetown.
Then it comes down to making the right calls on the two portal guys, not easy, but not as difficult as judging players who haven't played in college.
Marquette can get right back in there and in the long run with the right talent judgments on high school players can still compete with rosters that have 10-to-12 high school recruits and 3-to-5 portal recruits on any given roster.
Did anyone else think yesterday of those 43-39-ish games with UAB from the late '80s?

You may be thinking of a different team. We only started playing UAB in the 90s when we were both in CUSA.
