Bankruptcy does not equal going under like Spirit. In fact, JB's business strategy resulted in a revenue increase in Q1, and they have $2.5 billion of liquid assets, whereas Spirit had nothing of the sort. JB is in a far better position to be acquired (especially with T5 at JFK as an attractive asset) than Spirit ever was.  (note: my wife worked for JB a number of years ago, she did fuel hedging for them).

I have sympathy for their plight but at some point, I'd like to see those that bemoan "welfare queens" bemoan these "welfare queens".  Rural welfare is as expensive as urban welfare and as prevalent
