Bibi talked Trump into it--after Israel failed to convince previous, sane, Presidents--but I also think a big factor was the experience in Venezuela. It seems like Trump believed, like the moron that he is, that the same scenario would play out in Iran, i.e., get rid of the leader, install a friendly one, and steal the oil, placing a large amount of the proceeds in his offshore bank account.

That average is inflated because of California. Trump personally pumped gas in Iowa recently and it was $.80, or was it $1.80. He was just confused because while he was cleaning his windshield a man came up to him with tears in his eyes and said "sir, these gas prices are ridiculous, thank you for what you've done to Americans like me."
