Quote from: tower912 on May 02, 2026, 05:18:59 PMI am paying $4.99 per gallon of gas around here.   Higher than 4 years ago.   It isn't going to go down any time soon.

NACHO.

The trickle down effect of this will be far more pervasive than the benefits of trickle down tax cuts.

And it's obviously not only gas. Deisel, jet fuel, crops (because fertilizer prices have skyrocketed) ... to go with already major spikes in costs for health care, utilities, insurance of all kinds, beef, coffee, numerous other foods.

Remember when Capt. Bone Spur's  big campaign promise was lowering prices? Oh, and also keeping us out of wars?

The other stuff is no big deal, but coffee? I'm so pissed!

The voters are getting what they voted for, and unfortunately taking everyone down with them.

I've been saying since the 90s that we needed to get off oil so that we could tell the entire Middle East to unnatural carnal knowledge off when it came to energy. And here we are.

Gas is $4.85 here (it was $3.67 at the same station 10 days ago), and that's with the suspension of the state's gas tax. This is what I voted for. USA! USA!

It's worth it because the Golden Ballroom that was going to cost $200 $300 $400 billion and be funded by private donations is now a $400M $1B taxpayer funded line item in the new Republican budget bill.

The dentists must be very proud.

Hey, we need a ballroom for events like the correspondents' dinner, even though such events are not government functions and won't be held there.

I've seen/read/heard a lot about the US being oil/energy independent

If true, shouldn't we be insulated from global price fluctuations

If it's a goal to be energy independent, shouldn't we be nationalizing energy sectors ?

I don't think that decision is blameless in Spirit's ultimate demise.

Where are you reading that JB is about to go under? They seem to be expanding and taking some of Spirit's old routes.
