Not technically dead, but a foot in the grave after massive playoffs were just announced. They are eliminating the Sports department, and just about eliminating local and international news, to concentrate mostly on national politics. And we'll see how long even that survives.

I had canceled my subscription two years ago when Bezos surrendered autonomy to the power-that-be.

Whether one likes or dislikes the "legacy" media, it is not good for our constitutional republic IMHO when a major watchdog against unfettered power gets blown to bits.

We have a constitutional republic? I thought that got blown up.

Happy to hear that the Post will concentrate mostly on national politics. We need more of that.

This was the plan from the day Bezos bought it. He's become just one more henchman.

On the bright side, we got the Melania documentary.
"I am one of those who think the best friend of a nation is he who most faithfully rebukes her for her sins—and he her worst enemy, who, under the specious and popular garb of patriotism, seeks to excuse, palliate, and defend them" - Frederick Douglass

I don't think anyone could possibly have known that concentrating massive amounts of wealth and power into the hands of a tiny number of (almost exclusively) men would have horrific consequences.

Sure seemed like a good bet that these billionaires-on-their-way-to-becoming-trillionaires would act with benevolence for the common good.

Too bad there were no historical parallels that could have warned us.
If you think for one second that I am comparing the USA to China you have bumped your hard.

The die was cast for the Post and legacy media way before Bezos was uber wealthy. Also, to claim that main stream media and news hasn't been controlled by the wealthy forever is false. Scripps, Hearst, Katz, GE, Disney, etc.

But, it is sad and it is a pain to find reliable news these days.

Searching for truth is definitely not easy

Nor is defining it easy. But your point is fair. There are too few "honest brokers" in the media business. What I see as the most tragic development is the transparent effort to suppress any outlet that is critical of the Grand Poohbah. And yes, before you or anyone else here asks....I would be just as worried if the suppression came from the other extent of the political pendulum's path. See my first signature.
