I don't think anyone (well, this is Scoop, so let's say only some) will call Shaka a
"hypocrite" if he changes his approach. Bottom line, he's a basketball coach. His prospects are tied more or less to how his team performs. Success in his field is
defined by W's and L's. I don't hold the basics of "recruit and develop" against him, but I do think he's responsible for the dreary product MU is putting on the floor this year.

He seems to be intelligent and mightily interested in succeeding. He's devoted to RGV
but even he has to objectively evaluate this year's results. If he doesn't have the ability to do that and admit that the process is not working, and adapt, then his departure will not be a sad event, as much as I have admired what he's done here so far.

Miles, we agree until you say that his departure would not be a sad event if he does not have the ability to...

I will be sad if he leaves, even though I believe it may be necessary. In HS, our English teacher had us memorize a few of his favorite quotes. This is a perfect time for one of them:

"For all sad words of tongue and pen, the saddest are these-I might have been."

Wild horses couldn't drag me into either political party, but for very different reasons.

"All of our answers are unencumbered by the thought process." NPR's Click and Clack of Car Talk.
