All you can hope for is improvement from the young guys this year.

It's not going to be a successful season in the W/L category.

Get Nigel and Stevens a bunch of minutes.

JakeBarnes

They'll improve. Just frustrating how they arent really at a good starting point. Chemistry is way off. Offense is...stagnant.

Right now it is a group of individuals in a pickup game. Hopefully there is some flow to be found on that end of the floor.
Assume what I say should be in teal if it doesn't pass the smell test for you.

So maybe a new team slogan of RGV(NY)? Relationships, Growth, Victory (Next Year)

warriors141

Shaka needs to answer some tough questions and face some heat. Wtf is this roster? The least amount of talent since Deane. None of the sophomores or juniors improved. Season is basically over in November barring a miracle

NCMUFan

We took them to overtime.

Well, at least we can hang our hats on Relationships...

Ya. I meant from a fan perspective.

This season should be considered a "success" based on improvement not on wins

We lost to a mid major team at home.

the athletic director needs to have a discussion with Shaka.

First and foremost, ask him and his offensive coordinator, Nevada Smith to get on the same page.

Don't recruit a bunch of guys who can't hit threes to shoot threes, especially when said guys get within five feet of the hoop are instructed to pass.

My goodness.

CountryRoads

Just play the young guys at this point. They need to clean some serious house with several older players.

ATL MU Warrior

I really wonder what they do in practice.  It can't be anything worthwhile because this team has no idea what to do on either end of the court.

They can improve all they want but our horrible offensive AND defensive strategies will not let victories happen. I know they're the same as years past but the personnel is different and changes are needed to be made.

The good news is they'll improve. The bad news is so will everyone else.

Isn't a supposed major advantage of RGV continuity and cohesiveness?

I'm very pro-Shaka and his approach but there was really nothing positive to take away from that game. Not from the coaching and not from the players.

Total ineptitude.

And DEFLECTIONS!!  lots and lots of them tonight.

Failing to get a shot off with 17 seconds was astonishing.

This roster makeup is just inherently flawed.  Need a big who you can run offense through at high post to settle down possessions.  Caden ain't it.  Thought Royce maybe could be that guy, but he has not developed into that role yet.  Also need shooters to spread floor.  We don't have any pure shooters and makes our offense look bunched together and out of control.

At least we aren't Maryland who went to OT at home against Mount Saint Mary's.

If there was a successful ball screen thrown tonight by Marquette, I missed it.

This was an offensive strategy that seemed demonstrable in not having a strategy. A little bit of hero ball with more misses then I could count. And the turnovers .. sheesh!

And Rocky's right -- its inexcusable that they could not get a shot off in the last 17 seconds. I would have felt better if SOMEONE shot and missed than what happened.

There's a lot of work that needs to be done.

Vander Blue Man Group

Chase and Ben were both bad.

Not sure I recall Chase getting beat off the dribble as he has consistently this season.

Nah, he doesn't have to answer to anyone.

He's done enough at Marquette in a short period of time.

The only person he has to answer to is himself, which is the hardest person to please when you're a guy like Shaka.

Everyone makes mistakes, and he has to work hard to correct his

don't recruit a bunch of guys that shouldn't be in high D-1.

Again, none of you saw this coming?  Was easy to see that the talent leaving was far superior to the talent coming in.  Shaka's inability to adapt to the modern landscape of college basketball is a disaster.

Mostly agree...except Nigel James showed up big time.  Chase faded as the game went on.  Zaide seemed like he wasn't locked in.

Shaka has never had a team of his be outside the Top 50 in Ken Pom D - it's astounding how much this team is struggling defensively.

Really odd from a coach whose biggest success here (Kolek) was a transfer. I get not wanting to do a line change every year, but taking 1 or 2 strategic transfers per season feels like it can still fit his culture (considering it's already been done).
