Marquette's continuity roster got its ass kicked by Indiana's portal roster.

Daniel

14 for James and 10 from Hamilton is the best take always we have

MuggsyB

That was an ass kicking.  Very upsetting.

Quote from: 1SE on November 09, 2025, 02:05:39 PMMan,could you imagine if we had someone that could make more than  2 3s a game?

I can but we would still loose given our other deficiencies.

Quote from: GoldenEagles03 on November 09, 2025, 01:06:04 PMProbably depends what teams you look at.

We aren't ever getting a Tucker DeVries to come to Marquette even if we use the portal are we?
Why not?

Not a lot of good things to take from this one.  My spin is sometimes a schellacking can be used for motivation.

I hope that's the last time this year we get smacked by a red Big Ten team

With the exception of 2 guys, the roster is primarily 'average' on talent, combined with a bunch of guys that seem reluctant under the bright lights, no go-to on offense...there will be more games like this one. Might set a record this season for number of times a MU team gives up +90.If this season ends with 16 or 17 wins, not sure how the HC can't not move on some guys for the portal.

It's hard to be disappointed in the players. With the exception of NJ, Chase, Gold & Stevens, this is a Horizon League roster. Which of these other guys would play on a top 25 team? Even the ones that occasionally do something useful turn around a kill you on the other end. It's gotta be frustrating for the coaches too.

which begs the question, what did the coaches see when recruiting some of these guys?

A young team got its ass kicked.  Nothing to do but learn and use it for fuel.

Coming into the season with all of the question marks my mindset was to think of MU as a bubble team and then adjust expectations based  on how they look and develop.

After the first 3 games my expectations have been temporarily adjusted to wondering if they will even be on the bubble in February.

The weekly question of "where will MU be ranked on Monday?" seems likely to have the same answer all season.

If only there was a method out there to recruit experienced talent and improve on a talented core.

I'm betting that it won't be. Unless you don't count teams wearing their home whites.

Ha, that actually occurred to me a couple minutes after posting.

Warrior_2002

Biggest frustration is we don't actually run an offense. Nothing good comes of one pass iso possessions.

It is the exact same offense as the last 4 seasons.

Chase and our guards had a green light to the basket all game if they went left.

They didnt take it a lot

It might be time to send some guys packing who aren't working out and upgrade, then.

Hamilton has shown me nothing to indicate he's a high-major 5. Big West coaches laughed when MU took him. I'm not sure Clark is going to be any more than a mop-up player. He's worth a shot but if it's not working it's time for him to go where he'll play and be good, like a Southland or Sun Belt school.

This team starts Gold, Ross and Jones: 3 seniors. The team is not young; they're just not very good.

This - a ton of head scratching big man recruitments under Shaka.
