There is a new study out, just released, that shows there is a link between pregnant women catching COVID during pregnancy and an increased chance of neurodevelopmental issues (Autism) in their children.

Yup. This scientific study of more than 18,000 births found that children born to women who contracted Covid faced a higher risk of autism and other neurological differences.

Scientists and other medical experts say the study highlights the importance of getting Covid vaccines during pregnancy. But vaccination rates are falling due to misinformation and fear pushed by some of the stoopidest Americans.

The pandemic of 1918 is believed to have done neurological damage to those that suffered from it as well.  If a pandemic like that hit today, the results would be catastrophic due to mass ignorance.

Id be weary of this stat. It falls very much in line with an increase in autism diagnoses in general.

I also didnt read trhe article at all in case it covers that

"The investigators studied 18,124 mother-child pairs. Among the 861 children whose mothers were SARS-CoV-2–positive during pregnancy, 140 (16.3%) received a neurodevelopmental diagnosis by 3 years of age, compared with 1,680 (9.7%) of the 17,263 remaining children from SARS-CoV-2–negative pregnancies. After adjusting for other influencing factors, SARS-CoV-2 infection during pregnancy was associated with 29% higher odds of a neurodevelopmental condition in children."

Yup, that is an incredibly small sample size.

One of my friends had a baby after the mother had COVID in 2021.  Bad kid.  COVID is the devil.

It is consistent with other data thought that indicates that Mothers that experience high fevers during pregnancy (particularly 2nd trimester) also are more prone to both negative outcomes in pregnancy and an increased risk of neurodevelopmental conditions.
