Yes, Wembanyama was great, and the Spurs hurt the Thunder with their extremely physical defense. But I was most impressed last night with the Spurs' shotmaking.

Every time OKC would get a basket or two and the arena would start rocking, one of the San Antonio players would calmly drill a 3. Julian Champagnie was particularly good at this, but Kendon Johnson, Dylan Harper and De'Aaron Fox also broke the Thunder's heart and spirit with crushing 3s.

Plus, Wemby isn't any good.  Jordan never needed to go 7 games to win a series and if he did, it's because he wanted to for gambling purposes.

On this day in 1992, Jordan scored 35 points and made six 3-pointers in the first half of Game 1 of the NBA Finals vs. Portland. Both are still Finals records. After the sixth, he gave The Shrug seen 'round the world.

This is as excited as Ive been for a finals in awhile as a neutral fan. 

The first finals, probably a year or two earlier than expected, for the presumptive new face of the NBA.  Sure SA made tons of finals, but its a new GM, a new coach, a team full of young stars that weren't even in HS (much less middle school for some) the last time the Spurs won a title.   

The first finals appearance this millennium for the Knicks, looking for their first title since before the 3pt line was invented...literally.  Dolan absolutely sucks, but the arrogance of NY fans has been dampened so much by how terrible that they've been that they are almost to endearing underdog status in a way.  Josh Hart is my favorite non-MU player in the league, Kolek is my favorite MU player in a decade, and I love Mitchell Robinson's personality and story.  Its a really likeable team and organization right now, especially bringing in Mike Brown (who I have absolutely LOVED watching coach this year, unlike any season prior.)

Its gonna be fun and hopefully go at least 6.
