Quote from: wadesworld on March 10, 2026, 08:56:48 PM43 free throws for Bam tonight? Oh. The highlight film of his 83 point outing is going to be dope. Just a loop of free throws.

20/43 from the field, 7/22 from 3.  Scoring 83 shooting under 50% from the floor and 32% on 22 3PA is just gross.  I like Bam as a player, but seeing that headline felt like a fever dream.

The fact that it was against the Wizards probably won't help the narrative either.

Oh it gets funnier, he was 5/6 from 3 in the 1Q.  So he was 2/16 from 3 when he realize he had a huge game going and started chasing stats  :o  :o

Hasn't been mentioned here but they were also fouling the wizards up 20 to chase stats.

And the Heat have been the Cardinals of the NBA, gatekeepers of the unwritten rules.  If somebody dunks in the last 10 seconds on them, they're certainly going to let them know how inappropriate that was.

In 974 NBA games this season, only 21 times has a team shot more than Bam's personal 43 free throw attempts yesterday.  And that is the most in one season since 2018-2019.

And of course we now have the Kobe-stans coming out...

Nobody talks anymore about Kobe chasing points by still being on the court (and shooting FTs) in the final seconds of a blowout game. Nobody talks anymore about Wilt's teammates fouling on purpose down the stretch to repeatedly stop the clock so he'd have more chances at 100.

And in a few years, probably less, nobody will talk about how Bam got to 83. It's still 83 freakin' points.

People are such absolute weirdos.  Best reply...

"What the unnatural carnal knowledge are we doing here, if the roles were reversed, Kobe would have blown by that record and kept pouring it on until someone tied him up and dragged him out of the arena."

Which is dead on.  Deifying a former player's record in a way that is the antithesis of how that player played/accomplished that record is such bizarre gatekeeping.

Though, speaking of Kobe, he was shooting 45% from the floor, 34% from 3 that season.  Went 28/46 and 7/13 from 3.  So he was hot.  Whereas Bam shot right at his season average and below his season average from 3, so he didn't even have a particularly amazing game, outside of his insane 31 point 1Q start with the 5/6 from 3.  He started gunning for numbers in the second half where he shot 29 of his 43 FTs.

What we really need to know is if LeBron told everyone that Bam was going to go for 80 at the start of the game like he did at the start of Kobe's 81 pt game

Lol.  Outstanding.

WhiteTrash

Maybe I'm unique, but I think Bam intentionally stopping at 81 would do damage to the lore of Kobe's incredible feat. It would be a virtual asterisk next to his 81 in the record books.

I also agree with everyone, Kobe would be the last one to want Bam to stop.
