Yes. Claiming people shouldn't be racist is so very woke.

That's not the issue at all.

Quote from: MuggsyB on October 03, 2026, 05:16:09 PMWas it also a "no brainer" for the Blazers to sign Ja Morant?  Every locker room should be recorded, in every sport,  for misogynistic and racist comments.  In fact the Blazers should go though all player and employee phones right now.

From a business perspective? Absolutely.  When not being a basket case, Ja is an elite talent.  The business determined that the potential reward is worth the risk. Theres no reward to keeping this play by play guy instead of replacing him.

Again,  this doesn't make either decision the moral decision. Just the one that's best for the business.

I'm genuinely curious,  why is this such an important issue for you that you make post after post about it? But when we ask for your thoughts on the EPA getting gutted, the endangered species act getting weakened, and companies killing animals and the environment in the name of profit, you don't respond?

It's important because to quote AOC:  "Woke 1 was kinda crazy".  We strongly disagree about cancel culture in general.  It more often than not makes things worse with regards to preventing real prejudice and discrnation.  It creates a greater schism.

So if I'm understanding you correctly,  you think that speaking out against cancel culture is important enough to post about, but speaking out against the systematic dismantling of environmental protections and destruction of endangered species is not. Would that make your past posts about needing to protect endangered species and wishing harm on humans who mess with animals virtue signaling?

I don't disagree with you that some aspects of "cancel culture" can go too far and end up doing more harm than good. I shared a while back that an old colleague of mine was fired after posting that she disagreed with Charlie Kirks ideology but wished him and his family peace. I also said earlier in this thread that I don't think this is the morally right thing to do,  just that it was the right business decision.

But in the end "cancel culture" is just a natural result of capitalism. People are supposed to vote with their dollar and companies are supposed to act in their own self interest. Doesnt make it right, but that's how the system works.

You're overanalizing for the purpose of baiting me on a separate discussion.  People here have thrown an insane amount of vitriol towards may of our tremendous animal species and diminutive citizens.  Defending their rights is not analogous to a moronic racist or misogynistic Tweet from a 15 year old.   And fwiw I'm very angry about this administration on a lot of issues.  Including the environment.  But that doesn't mean I'm not angry about many, many, other tvings impacting the world because of idiotic ideologies from the Left.

You are making the mistake of blaming this on "the left." Literally no one was saying or protesting anything. Once the Blazers found out, they fired him - as TAMU said, it was 100% a business decision.

You are the one turning it into a culture war issue when it is clearly not that.

I appreciate you being willing to acknowledge that. I think we would be in a much better place as a country if we can openly acknowledge when we are disappointed or angry with our own "team." I'd suspect we would find a lot of common ground and actually be able to start to work towards solutions instead of engaging in all or nothing trench warfare.

I know it's hard to read tone on these forums, but I'm honestly trying to have a genuine discussion. I think getting past "this is a left vs right issue" is a necessary step.

"Insane" is the perfect word to describe you.

It's not vitriol. It's mockery. There are other "diminutive" scoopers, but you are the only one who has made a huge issue of being shorter than average. That way you can draw in the mockery and then have a hissy fit about the ridicule you receive. You are like an obnoxious small child who, if he cannot get positive attention, settles for negative attention.

Same with your "magnificent animals" schtick. How many times have you started a thread like "Happy Rhino Day", incurred mockery, and had a hissy fit?

And of course, let's not forget your oh-so-secret Five-Point Plan. Another way to get attention, even if it is mockery.
