A lot of golfers were treated unfairly over the weekend. Mostly European golfers by bigoted imbeciles.

Besides the good guys winning, the thing that will be remembered most about this weekend is the disgraceful behavior of the American fans and the people that were unbothered by it.  It was a very telling weekend beyond golf.

Bryson celebrated as if he had accomplished something.

If he hadn't fallen hopelessly behind in his match, he might have actually accomplished something by the end of it. Instead, he celebrated an effen tie as if he had just won the Masters, when in fact all he had done was cost his team half a point with his horrendous early play.

But hey, at least he won 1 of his 4 matches on Fri and Sat ... meaning that of 5 possible points, he brought home 1.5.

Yay, Bryson!

To be nitpicky, he got 1.5 out of 5.

Of course you are right. Correction made. Point still stands.

Good week for Bryson.  He got paid.  He exposed his brand to more people to grow the Bryson brand, his biggest goal of the weekend.

"I'd like to congratulate @RyderCupEurope on their victory. Your team play the first few days was sensational. More importantly, I'd like to apologize for the rude and mean-spirited behavior from our American crowd at Bethpage. As a former player, Captain and as an American, I am ashamed of what happened."

Keegan getting Team USA.

It is interesting to see venue setup be ripped across the board.

At Hazletine and Whistling Straits, the setup was benign like this week and worst yet, with super easy pin placements on Sunday at both.

I'm not sure I understand the call for toughening it up when American players have gone into the fetal position playing tougher setups in Europe (narrow fairways, holes with driver taken out of their hands).

The argument has been America's best hit it long and they'd have an advantage out of the rough but that also plays into Rory and Rahm's hand and they dominated anyway.

Bethpage is supposed to be hard and I guess they neutered it but I don't think they were wrong in doing so.  I just think the Euros knew it was coming and paired their players the best way they could to take advantage of it.  If they had set it up to US Open standards, I just don't see any advantage being gained by a home team that is usually the loudest in complaining about USGA setups

A couple of final Ryder Cup points:

1) The course set up was stupid and a major error.

2) Going out both sessions with Foursomes in lieu of 4-Ball was another mistake.

3) Sending out Morikawa/English once, let alone twice, was moronic.

4)  The fan behavior among some was totally inexcusable.

Lastly, this "paying" only US players narrative is actually patently false.  I didn't know that until this morning. The Euro players are getting paid because the money goes into their purses on their Tour.  So while I do like Luke Donald, he was being magnanimous with his comments before the tournament.

1.  Americans are largely stupid and proud of it, so that matches.

2.  See point 1.

3.  See point 1.

4.  The European Tour has been largely funded by the Ryder Cup for decades.  This has been widely known by people that follow golf.  American golfers care about money before country.  They represent this nation quite well.

You realize that most of the Euros live in the United States?  At least 1/2 of them also went to college and owe their success to their coaches and pros in the United States.  These are multi, multi, millionaires that coukd live anywhere in the world but they choose the United States.  And if the Ryder Cup is what funds their Tour?  That reiterates all of my points.

Do you think Tiger Woods "owed his success" to the Stanford coach?

Why can't you just be glad the better team of better guys won the Ryder Cup?

The European players are true gentleman who play for one another and respect the game of golf.

The American players are true capitalists who play for greed and individual glory and could care less about the game of golf.

The two bodies that run the Ryder Cup are the PGA of America and The European Tour.  Has been that way forever.  Of course the European Tour makes money on it.  They freaking run it.

Of course, it's why the PGA Tour created the President's Cup, so the whiny American players could have a team event they can stuff their pockets with the money it makes.

Thank God for Team Europe, true sporting heroes.

I don't know for sure  that they're better guys.  Lowry, Fleetwood, and Rose?  They're good dudes.  Scheffy, Spaun, and Young?  They're good dudes.  I suppose we can do some thorough research on the rest of the players.

Team Europe is essentially American.  They have no interest in living in Europe at all.

Rory and Shane moved back.  Wisely.  Team Europe outclassed the American team because they're respectful of the game and their teammates unlike the Americans who are front runners looking for their next fat check.

For 25 years, American golfers have whined about money while the European team has been focused on representing their teammates and the game of golf.

The good guys won Sunday, a victory over greed, avarice, sloth and narcissism

Sloth is an unfair term to another tremendous member of the animal kingdom.  It's a false characterization that sloths are lazy.

Reading accounts of the behavior of the American mobs has guaranteed I will be rooting for Europe for at least the next two Ryder Cups.   Just like I do with posters on this site, I will judge the fans with the same energy they brought to the players.

Clearly, the Ryder Cup shouldn't be near NYC.
