The one sure thing in life.  Nobody gets out alive.
Luke 6:45   ...A good man produces goodness from the good in his heart; an evil man produces evil out of his store of evil.   Each man speaks from his heart's abundance...

It is better to be fearless and cheerful than cheerless and fearful.

Skatastrophy

He was young at 65, but he was really struggling last year when we saw him and his fam walk out for a pitch at Wrigley. Great ambassador for the club.

I was a baby when he played, but my dad loved him and that '84 team.

Jonathan the Tortoise is at least 192.  But he may actually be 196.

He was my first sports hero.  Posters on the wall, getting his jersey number on my sports teams, etc.

This one hurt a little.

Same.  I'm a bit young to have him as my hero in his prime during my teen years (that was Ray Allen and college Wade for me), but watching him on WGN was formative for me as a kid and the reason I played second base most of my baseball career.  A Sandberg signed baseball is the first piece of sports memorabilia I ever got and still sits on my desk.

The Sultan

Somewhat fitting the Cubs lost on the day he died. At least they didn't lose at that dump they call a home field.

Uecker and Sandberg in the same year.  Common denominator?  Craig Counsell

At least Uecker won a World Series.

Both died after acknowledging Wrigley is a dump. Someone should look into the Ricketts

Ryne would never have been able to rake against Koufax.

TallTitan34

Far and away my favorite player as a kid.  I still have my Ryne Sandberg t-shirt from when I was 7 that my son now wears.

When I was a kid I always wanted flip down glasses like Sandberg had.  Wish the internet was around back then.

He did against Sutter and that's all that really mattered

Wanted to be Ryno when I was a kid. Have his signed jersey hanging in my basement, and I definitely had the flip glasses as a kid, they clipped onto my awful, plastic frames.

Oh, and The Friendly Confines is one of the best, most sacred places on the planet!

It's wild to think both of those guys have passed before reaching 70.

Feels weird seeing some of the Hall of Famers of that era pass so young.  Carter, Gwynn, Henderson and Puckett

I guess they used the Ozzy Body Care Plan and Exercise Program.
