Quote from: JWags85 on September 04, 2026, 10:47:51 AMI get the media centric self-centered view on NYC, but the increasingly outdated view on college football in the Northeast was ridiculous then, and even more so now.  Forget the Southeast or the West Coast, the comparative fanship profiles of college football in NYC and Chicago couldn't be more different.  Every major B10 school has multiple affiliated bars in Chicago, there is 1 at most in Manhattan (forget about the other boroughs) and that's usually just a fun association, not a core part of the bars identity from August-December like in Chicago.  I know multiple people who revolved their weekends around watching their alma mater/hometown NCAA team at bars/watch parties in Chicago.  When they moved to NYC for work, it was usually just a couple friends watching at an apartment instead.

I think it was like 15 years ago, in the midst of the start of the seismic conference changes, people talking about how incredibly IMPORTANT the Pitt-Penn St rivalry still was.  Not just in the history of college football (which it admittedly was decades ago), but moving forward.  At that point, they hadn't played since 2000, the previous history of it was a complete bloodbath (like 16-4 PSU), and that was even before the recent 4 year restart...which then ended with no plan to continue moving forward and still hasn't.

At least recent additions can be solely blamed on the networks themselves demanding it

Good results for Marquette as the Big Ten won all of its games last night

Brian Kelly's LSU wouldn't have let a little bad weather get in the way of football.

wadesworld

Nice season, Michigan.

Hate to see Dave Portnoy's $40MM lit on fire.

WhiteTrash

Is Boise State top 10? Or the other conclusion?

MuggsyB

Congratulations to WMU and the city of Kalamazoo.

MuggsyB

That was a b-crape call.  The clock was 0.0.

MuggsyB

No way.  That's absolute garbage.

Pakuni

MuggsyB

That was honestly a travesty.

I stand by what I said.

Dabo's recruit and development strategy is a complete failure.

MuggsyB

That wasn't even close.  WVU has a serious grievance.

100% the refs failed. Sucks for WMU.

But the evidence from the game is Michigan is awful. You have to question anyone who votes for them in the top 25.

WhiteTrash

Who wins more games, Michigan or Clemson?

Trying to think of a program that fell off so far under the same coach who brought it to its greatest heights. Even FSU under latter stages Bowden didn't look this bad.

MUEng92

I'm sure Western Michigan will receive a very polite apology for the tincy error and the non Power (whatever number we are at today) will be expected take their game check home and be quiet

he's had his head in the sand for years. Absolutely refuses to acknowledge what the game is today.

I would believe you if you told me this is the Clemson QB's first ever football game.

Right? Bowden was never as successful as Dabo, or as bad.

You can't just pretend to play the transfer game like Dabo, you have to be all in.

I honestly think UofM would have had been given 1 or 2 more plays more. The PI flags were at the ready.

This is professional sports. Entertainment fist, second and last.
