Uncle Rico

Happy 4th of July, even to all the losers and haters, of which there are many!

Let's take a solemn moment to reflect on the impotence of this day as we remember when we beat the French at the Battle of Gettysburg to win our independence lead by our great Air Force.

God rest your soul, General Robert E. Lee for giving your life for freedom that day.
"Well, we're all going to die."

Did you know James Brown's "Living in America" was based on what he witnessed that day?
"I am one of those who think the best friend of a nation is he who most faithfully rebukes her for her sins—and he her worst enemy, who, under the specious and popular garb of patriotism, seeks to excuse, palliate, and defend them" - Frederick Douglass

Every time I hear that song, I stand up and hold my hand over my heart and think of the troops
"Well, we're all going to die."

Pakuni

Our greatest president and author of the Constitution, Ben Franklin, was born on this day in 1776.

Is the Constitution like a webpage or something? Cause I've never heard of it.

I believe it's a submarine

Reading the full text of the Declaration of Independence is time well spent.
Luke 6:45   ...A good man produces goodness from the good in his heart; an evil man produces evil out of his store of evil.   Each man speaks from his heart's abundance...

It is better to be fearless and cheerful than cheerless and fearful.

Isn't it written in Olde English or something like that? Like Beowulf?

I thought it was a book like the Bible. Quote a few spots you like, but by and large ignore it.

Yeah, why do that when I can get hammered at the local town festival and then go home and shoot off fireworks instead?  That's clearly what the founders intended.

I like that the new holiday tradition is for POTUS to declare he HATES half of the country.

Nah, he is just needling the 20 percent who actually hate the country.

If you're sober on the 4th of July you should be sent to South Sudan

The second amendment gives you the right to do it.

I know this is Scoop but whatever happened to just wishing everyone a happy Independence Day and not get all snarky about it?

All the guys who used to wish it were banned and now soil themselves in depends daily over on the Dodds board
"If we finish off this recruiting class on a high note and have another good year next year, with one 2018 already signed up (Bailey) we may be on the verge of a new era of sustained basketball success which would be known to all as the Golden Eagles era." - Herman Cain

Other than Herman, they haven't migrated to the Dodds board.  At least one of them had been banned from there, anyway.
