Ok, perhaps a poor word.  My point is there are many games where a team is looking at the prospect of running out of timeouts or is conserving timeouts in a close game and suddenly they gat a freebie because the shot clock might have been off by a second.

Actually both teams get freebies.

You were clear on your point, Romey and I agreed with it. I was just bein' smarky cuz it's a day that ends with 'y'.

Quote from: TAMU, Knower of Ball on May 10, 2025, 11:33:53 PMThe reviews have neve bothered me. Id rather get it right

You also watch a lot of games on delay, so you can fast forward thru reviews.  They're annoying as heck when watching live.

Excellent point.  Of course often, one team does not want the clock to stop. ;)

Done deal.

It will essentially be the NBA rule, although college coaches won't be able to challenge foul calls. And it will eliminate the numerous reviews of out-of-bounds calls that have slowed the last 2 minutes of almost every game to a crawl.

Refs will still be able to review timing issues, whether or not a shot was a 3, etc.

Quote from: MU82 on May 10, 2025, 08:03:26 PMThe problem isn't with that "one" call ... it's the 5 or 8 or 10 stoppages to review every out of bounds play and/or every tenth of a second on the clock. And then sometimes they STILL get it wrong.

The end of almost every remotely close game is a barely watchable slog

And it especially seems to affect the games prior to MU games!

Quote from: muwarrior69 on May 11, 2025, 12:04:45 PMThat is a great idea, but I would make it one and one and one.
I never thought of that.  A very interesting idea.

The one and one and one suggestion gives me flashbacks to the "3 to make 2" rule in the NBA.  That was a crazy rule.  I wouldn't be surprised if young fans today think it was just a myth.

It was a rule during my early years as an NBA fan, and it was preposterous - let's give the best players in the world a "mulligan."

Thankfully, one or more powers that be realized how preposterous it was.

It was an ill thought rule to help eliminate deliberate fouls.

It's a terrible idea that would just incentivize more fouls. Just get rid of the one and one all together.

Then let's go one further and eliminate "deliberate" fouls. The player committing the "deliberate" foul in the last minute of play is out of the game.

Are you intentionally coming up with worse ideas?
