Who went?   I recommend going to the scout site.
DO had surgery to repair the groin injury from last fall.  I hope his recovery is speedy and full.

I'm just waiting for what's been whispered to MarquetteMike1977.

I saw that Sean Jones received the Dwyane Wade Legacy of Leadership Award. This speaks highly of him to receive this award despite being sidelined the entire season due to injury. I'm looking forward to seeing him on the floor again next year.

Heard Sean was going to enter the portal unless he was given this award.

Bruh.  He was IN the portal.  Before it even opened.  Things were so bad the NCAA made an exception for him.

I heard the college basketball season was in doubt for next season. The 145% tariff on Chinese basketball imports might be cost prohibitive.

Ben won a defense award, as he held the player he was guarding to 35% shooting for the season, the best on the team.  Coach's goal is 40%

That matches my eye test.

My favorite Dodd's banquet moment.  I used attend them regularly - during the Buzz's year with  allegations against the team, a prominent walk-on was not present, mentioned, or listed in the banquet team roster.  I posted on the Dodd's board that it looks like they dismissed the walk-on from the team.   Dodd's went in full crazy protect Buzz mode and claimed he was at the banquet cause Dodd's saw him in the bathroom. A day or two later it was announced he was not returning to the team.

Unfortunately this is the first Banquet we have missed in years as we had Bucks tickets.
Hopefully for the players we are not heading into a basketball Gun fight with knives talent wise. But I trust in Coach and the program is strong yet.

Your last two sentences sum it up well.  No one on this board of super fans, even the most optimistic, can be ultra confident in next year's team before they see it for themselves.  Just have to hope for the best because if it works again (I would say a tournament appearance with upside would be working again) then the system has proven itself even with top 75-150 talent.  If Shaka can then start to sprinkle in a few top 50 guys, second and maybe  third weekend success will be shortly behind.

I'm not saying we will take a step backward, because I don't know. But IF we took a step backward and missed the tournament but looked superbly positioned for 2026-27, with two good seniors (Zaide, Sean), two really good juniors (Royce, D.O.), and five good sophomores (2025 recruiting class plus Clark), to go with some outstanding recruits, I'd feel pretty darn good about our situation.

Very good programs often have take-a-step-back years. So I'm not gonna automatically say that missing the tourney next season "proves" recruit/develop/retain doesn't work.

I am aware that plenty of Scoopers would be losing their minds, though.

Agree with almost everything you said here- "IF".. possible step back '25''26, with a very solid '26-'27 season being the potential reward, and plenty of Scoopers losing their minds (minor disagreement-put that in the past tense) sums it up pretty well.

There are so many unknowns, but at this point my guess is that next season will be about the same (W/L) as this past one. If Willie does not have a defibrillator in his home, he should get one by November.

Sitting here today and trying to be as objective as possible, I'm thinking that for Marquette to be a top-3 BEast team next season, a couple/few players will need to improve the way Kolek, Oso, OMax and Kam did after their sophomore years. It would also help if a couple of the freshmen are real contributors for most of the season.

Is that asking too much? Maybe, maybe not. We'll get to see in the fall.
