Would be hilarious if Scheffler went on social media and posted a pic of his private jet and said "get me to God's country".

Watched it on delay. I'm freakin' exhausted!

There really is no better TV sports theater than the back 9 of a closely contested major. I loved watching every minute of that.

So glad Rory won, and him having to work so damn hard for it was the perfect outcome.

I really like Rose, too. His post-match interview reiterated how classy he is.

Getting to watch DeChambeau melt down ... that was a nice little bonus!

Quail Hollow and Portrush doesn't hurt Rory's chances of snagging one more Major this year.

I was not a fan of Bryson prior to his departure to LIV.  After that, he was dead to me.  However, he has worked really hard to rehab his image.  The story of him putting with his neighbors last night is awesome.  So, I no longer actively hate the guy and respect the fact he has two US Opens.  Which hurts, because I have a really great word play nickname that I haven't seen elsewhere.  But I respect him just enough to not use it.

Never been my thing.  Holding onto grudges isn't healthy and isn't what Jesus wants us to do.

I get it but don't have any issues with grudges.  Assuming they are warranted.  :)

I don't really "hate" him. I just don't care if he ever wins on the tour he rejected, and I certainly will always root for favorite golfers like Rory or Rose over him every time.

I'm big on second chances, and as tower says he has worked hard to rehab his image. But I still see a certain phoniness there. If I'm wrong about that, I can live with it. It's not as if he'll ever know he's not one of my faves.

That's fair.  I still have no idea what's going on with LIV.

I can't remember anything like that final 9.  Someone actively trying to give/choke away the tournament...while simultaneously making monster shots.  Gotta give him immense credit.  That drive and approach on the first playoff hole after the choke on 18 just prior was some serious mental fortitude.

But really happy for him, I've been a fan of him since his interview after his original Masters collapse and he's largely been a likeable dude ever since, even more so if you have strong feels about the PGA vs LIV.  Will be fun to see if he finds a new gear now that the gorilla is off his back.

He is genuine.  He is just eccentric and full of contradictions.  Trying to perfect golf.  So doing unique things.  Chasing speed.  Single length irons. Unique putter and putting stroke. Helping design drivers.  Taking the money and running and derailing his career.  Socially awkward when younger, now media savvy.  Again, not a fan, but done actively hating.

Absolutely. And the same thing happened on the back 9! Rory's pitch on 13 was undoubtedly one of the very worst shots he has hit in his entire pro career - it was as if some muni-course hack had stolen his wedge from him right before the swing. Two holes later, his title chances in jeopardy, he hit an eye-popping perfect approach on 15.

Meanwhile, there were numerous opportunities for others to be legit contenders, but nobody except Rose could make a putt.

Even Rory's two 18th holes ... He gakked his approach and missed a putt that was almost in gimme range in regulation, but then he came back with an approach that  was a Masters all-timer to set up his winning bird.

Totally agree with the rest of your post about Rory. Wouldn't you love to sit down for a few pints with him, Lowry and Rose?

Bryson's sad he couldn't be near the center of attention.

Rory mentioned several times throughout the tournament that he was working hard to stay in his own cocoon and do his own thing.

I think the flood gates are going to open for Rory.  It's hard to believe it was 11 years but he's only 35. There are a lot of great players, but I could see him getting to 10 majors.

cheebs09

I'd be happy if the floodgates opened, but we will see. He really struggled at the end. So it's not like he can totally erase his struggles from memory. However, maybe the weight off his shoulders of needing to win one will let him play more free in those moments.

That was a response to a direct question (and subsequent follow up) from a reporter about Rory on the course.  It wasn't Bryson bringing it up.

I hear you, but my take is that he's too talented not to capitalize.  I also think other than Sheffy, and maybe Bryson, Rory's A gane is significantly better than his competitors.  The only other guy I would throw in there is Aberg.  If Ludwig continues to improve at his young age his ceiling is way up there.
