I understand that this is a big game, but some of the prices I have seen on EBay, Stub Hub, and Craigslist are insane. I mean, I would love to be at the game, but $100 bucks/ticket for the upper half of the 400 level?? I don't know why anyone would pay for that. You will have better views from the TV coverage and have plenty of money to spend on beer and food at one of the fine establishments around the stadium (Goolsbys is my choice). I have a feeling that there will be a lot of tickets for sale out front on saturday for around face value.

mu_hilltopper

I doubt that.  This is the State of Wisconsin's Annual Super Bowl.

I have 9 tickets for friends, and I told them .. first, screw you suckers, you can bid for your seats on eBay.

Second, if I don't eBay them, if you're not wearing gold on Saturday, you're not getting a ticket.

THERE IS NOTHING LIKE BEING THERE!...

Upper deck seats are only bad when you're the only one up there.  When you're amongst 18,000...it can be absolute heaven.

I cannot fathom how people would rather sit across the street.

Its not about camera angles and commentary, its about the entire building shaking.  About the roof about to be blown off, about the explosion of the crowd when Cotton Eyed Joe or Zombie Nation plays.  It's about seeing MU take the court...its about Where the Streets have no Name...its about 3200 students all in gold packed in 90 minutes before tip after sleeping outside just to get in.

I actually am beginning to feel bad for you that you'd rather spend $100 at a bar than the BC.

I wouldn't count on getting cheap seats outside the game. I've been caught high and dry at the Bradley Center in the past.

spiral97

it's about having the opposing coach himself look at YOU halfway through the game, frown, and shake his head in frustration because he can't get his players to hear him over your constant badgering (pun intended).

I agree with you whole heartedly. I love being part of the atmosphere, but I also like to see the game. Upperdeck seats at the BC are miserable if you ask me. You can't see anything from up there.

spiral97

actually.. I have tended to find that there are NO bad seats at the BC.. (assuming you are not sitting off by yourself somewhere).

then again.. I'm comparing it to my worst experience which was sitting at the UW fieldhouse watching an MU/Wisc game in 95 (before the Kohl center was open).. i was right behind one of the support beams on cold and hard as heck bleacher seats.

You're crazy, it's the best up there...you can see the whole floor, good "high" angle lets you see the driving lanes, plays developing, if a shot looks good when they shoot from our side of the court, etc, it's almost like you're watching people play a video game with the bird's eye view.  As for the replay, just look straight and the jumbotron is right there.....

...we have our two 5 packs up there just right of the half court line (443), I wouldn't trade it for the world.

MilTown

Ok, let me rephrase my original statement. Maybe the first 5-8 rows in the upperdeck are fine, but beyond that i think the seats are terrible. I guess if you want to see the whole court, its fine, but if you want to see more than that, you are out of luck.

mu_hilltopper

With perhaps the exception of the first 5 rows .. and perhaps the sections near the students, I completely dispise the upper deck seats -- for most games.  If it's a full house, it's marginally better, but if there's even 3k empty seats, the upper deck is like a library.

I suppose it depends on why you're at the game.  If you're there to "see the driving lanes" or watch it "like people play a video game with a bird's eye view" .. well, then, the upper deck is your nirvana.

If you're like me, and want to go home deaf and hoarse, it's the lower deck or nothing.

MUfan2

Trust me...compared to some other venues (Dean Dome, Metrodome, RCA, etc.) the Bradley Center upper deck, even top rows, aren't that bad.

Didn't know they played football at the Dean Dome.  Metrodome and RCA host NCAA regionals almost every year smartass.

I can see your point for non-conference games, but last year the crowd was pretty deafing in the upper deck as well for the conference opponents, and my voice is hoarse no matter how/where I watch them, even watching the updates online when I can't make it up there, but that's just me.

We sit by the students so you may have a point there, but for the price I'm very, very pleased with the upper deck.

MarquetteVol

I don't see what the fuss is all about. Has anyone been in the 300 level at the United Center? Good Lord, it's in the heavens. And, even then, it's not a bad seat. Whether I'm courtside and can see the sweat, or up high above the floor, each view provides interesting insight. The upper deck seats are great for watching how a play develops and the amount of activity off of the ball. The lower level seats let you grasp the speed and athleticism of the college game, or in the case of Brian Butch, the lack of speed and athleticism ( ;D Hey,it's UW week).

DJ, the upper deck suited me just fine, but I couldn't pass up the opportunity to get downstairs during reseating a couple of years back. But, if I decided to cut back on the cost of my tickets, I would consider going back upstairs. In fact, if I don;t start donating more money I may have to!

yes but you're comparing an arena designed for basketball games to two cavernous stadiums designed for football.  They are only used to maximize profits and pack the most people as possible in during regional games in the ncaa tournament, not provide spectacular views to the nosebleed seats.  I'm not trying to start a fight, i just think you used poor examples to make your point....smart guy.

MilTown

Speaking of packing them in, based on the demand, this game probably could have filled Miller Park. I know back on the old board there was some talk of Miller Park as a hoops venue for a special game. Anyone know what ever happened to that? I know MU extended the BC lease, but I think it would be cool to have a game at Miller park.

TVDirector

UD is fine, but definately not in the corners...that's where I've been seeing ebay tix at

dwaderoy2004

yeah i remember about 3 years ago hearing the crean was trying to have illinois sign a home and home where we'd play our game at miller park.  i'm sure it's possible...didn;t miller park actually host a PBA bowling tournament on the field a couple years ago?

LastWarrior

I bought two tix on ebay for upper deck corner in row W for $50 each.  More than twice face vaule but I doubt you'll find anything less outside the Bradley.

not sh*t!!  I'm worried about consuming too many "pops" and stumbling down the stairs on the way to the can in the 2nd half!   ;D

Yeah, you will get a workout from the bathroom breaks and the beer runs! I have a bid in on row N right now. Hope to see everyone at the game.

We went the street route for the ND game last year and ended up there doing the 5th Dimension thing.

My advice -- When taking the hike, adjust your body lean, and be sure to make slight adjustments, don't over compensate.  Keep your momentum under control and don't get out over your skis or else you'll be that Yugoslavian ski jumper on the opening of Wide World of Sports.  As a courtesy to those sitting on the aisle, on your way up, adhere to a single beer carrying capacity policy.  You'll still have a full beer by the time you get to your seat and your section neighbors will be happy campers.

;D ;D ;D ;D
