Tennessee for this season.

Chaz Lanier can really ball, I can see him being the player of this years tournament.

Also, in the last few seasons I'm really starting to pull for Rick Barnes.
I'd like to see him break thru and cut down the nets, and I've got the Vols to win in my bracket.

Rick, like our beloved Coach Smart, is and has been one of the good guys for quite some time. He's consistently got good teams but hasn't had the March Madness results.

At the end of the game yesterday one of my first thoughts was that I just really felt bad for the trio of seniors and especially Coach Smart.
Its easy to sit and play the blame game and take the "so what this dude is paid 3M$ yearly to get results," and there are much worse lots in life than Shaka's, but that's not how life works.

It's gotta wear on a man, and you can definitely see that it wears on Coach Smart, when you work your tail off chasing a goal day in and day out but fall short when it matters most.
I've mentioned before that it's even harder for a man that reached the Final Four pinnacle so early in his career, you are constantly chasing that pot of Gold and it can't be easy.

Rick Barnes has had to deal with some of that in his career too and it would be nice to see him break through

This is a joke, right?

Creighton has made 6 Sweet 16s, 2 Elite 8s (one was in the 1940s) and zero Final 4s. "By a mile" was the understatement of the year.

I've been pulling for Maryland. How can you not root for the Crab Five? They have a very likeable team that seemingly always plays exciting games — at least 5 have come down to buzzer beaters this year.

And it also helps that there's been a lot of love from Maryland fans recently, especially now that we have an ongoing home-and-home with them. This is mainly due to the fact we shared a player in Darryl Morsell, who Maryland fans loved. Terrapins have been a very positive presence in nearly all of Marquette's Reddit game threads this season, so now that the Big East (and Jesuit mafia) is out of the tourney, they're an easy #2.

Warriors4ever

No Cinderellas in this tourney. I have no one to root for, and am no longer interested..

wisblue

Michigan, though I am not a big fan of the team of nomads they have had to put together this year.

I miss the Beilein era. That was a program that could develop players and turn them into a team.

We're the better all time program by a mile but since they joined the big east? There's been 10 tournaments they've gone to 8, won a game in 6, got to the sweet 16 in 3, elite 8 in one. For context our best stretch of basketball since Al was the 06-13 which was also 8 tournaments, 5 rd 32, 3 sweet 16s, 1 elite 8.

Depending the date parameters that person was referring to I could see being envious.
Retire Terry Rand's jersey!

They've definitely had a better run lately.  They aren't the better program, and I trust Shaka will have us consistently better as well.

This feels weird, but I find myself kind of pulling for Duke.

Just about all anybody has said about Scheyer since he got the job was that he didn't deserve it and he would be destined to fail following K.

Objectively, however, it seems he's done a pretty darn good job there. His guys embrace defense, they share the ball on offense, they dive to the floor, they have a lot of ways to beat you. Early in the season, he gave Flagg a ton of responsibility, and that resulted in a couple of last-possession losses, but that undoubtedly paid dividends as the season progressed. The ACC sucked this season, but Duke won the tournament without Flagg (and Maliq Brown, no small loss), as every other Dookie upped his game. Proctor is out of his mind now. Each player seems to know and embrace his role; there are no holes in the lineup.

Even without K, Duke is no underdog story. And no doubt there will be some sickeningly sweet Scheyer portrayals by CBS, ESPN and the like as the tournament advances.

I just like watching the way Duke plays basketball, starting with the best player in the country.

Duke also has Milwaukee kid Kon Knueppel to root for.

UH Go Coogs!!

The Hou in HouWarrior is for UH, my law school alma mater.
Not since Phi Slama Jama have I been so enthused for UH's chances.

MU won it all during my undergrad years. That is not a little special, Scoopers, It's the whole enchilada. Tourney champs put and will keep MU on the NCAA Tourney map for a long time. Winning it all is like NOTHING else. You have it--Cherish it, durn it.

UHers are in envy. UH is a broken record of bad breaks. NCState at the buzzer in 83, Recently key injuries to Shead, Sasser, and others late derailed great runs.

UH has been to 6 final fours and never won. UH in recent years has 6 straight sweet 16s an Elite 8 and a Final Four. This is best year in decades to root them to the crown. Please join me.

Go Coogs
I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it.

Scoop Snoop

No one in particular yet. I'm disappointed that the Hausers have not been among the MSU fans so that the announcers could talk about them 4-5 times during the game with the close-in camera shots. If the Hausers show up for the next game, then I'm going with MSU.

Gators because that was where I was going before Marquette came calling.

As much as it sickens me, I've realized I need to root for Duuuk as an FU to the football conferences.

So I guess I'm with @MU82, but for different reasons.

I think I'll root for Duke since I seemed to have picked them in most of my NCAA pools including the Scoop one.

Auburn, followed by Michigan State. My son attends Auburn (his twin sister is at Marquette!) and I have many nephews and nieces at Michigan State.

I'm with you Rocky.  I'm also a fan of Maluach.  It will take him a few years but I assume he's a high lottery pick.
