Gratitude to the guardians of the program  for 4 years of fun, only blame I have is Shaka not helping them out, taking projects vs the portal was a shame.

Shaka and his assistants helped make NBA players out of 4 guys nobody thought would be pros when they got to Marquette.

I know that based on your past posts you don't think coaching matters when it comes to development - that guys simply are going to get better over time. That's pretty ridiculous. Shaka "helped" them plenty. He also has helped non-NBAers like Mitchell, Joplin, Gold, Ross and Lowery a ton, too.

The only shame is that you can't even avoid ripping the guy who rebuilt our program in the "Gratitude" thread. The dozen-plus rip-a-thon threads aren't enough.

Coach did a great job making MU a significant team again, but if his high and mighty attitude towards transfers hurt MU to take the next step.  If you want to finish in the middle of the pack then you will be happy next year, just add a big please

God you are insufferable. Seriously the lack of gratitude for the program that Shaka has built is ridiculous.

For the sweet love of god learn how to quote posts.

Also, Shaka doesn't have a "high and mighty attitude". You do.

You are as good at judging coaches as you are at quoting posts.

This year, your boy Moser brought in 6 transfers and lost 4. It did wonders for Oklahoma, which has a revolving door, which is on the bubble again, and which has no culture to speak of.

If that's what you want - and it clearly is - you should become a Sooners fan.

Enjoy all those conference titles and deep tourney runs!

The team has been exciting to watch under Shaka and staff, and we are thrilled to watch them play and represent our University.   Losing is painful - especially for the team who puts it all out there every game, every time.   I am thrilled about outperform ye am and their character and for Shaka and his group.

Thank you for starting this thread.  Go Marquette!

I said yesterday that I love the players on this team and what a pleasure it has been to watch the seniors the last 4 years.

I also appreciate Shaka Smart and what he has done for the program to make the team entertaining for the fans who invest the time and money to attend every single home game year after year.

But that appreciation doesn't preclude being bitterly disappointed when a season that looked so promising in December turns sour. That disappointment obviously isn't as great as it is for the players themselves, but without passionate fans who care deeply about winning, the coaches and players wouldn't be enjoying some of the financial and other perks they receive.

You won't see me expressing my disappointment, or concerns about the team's performance, by  ripping players individually, such as by suggesting they should be benched permanently or encouraged to transfer. Or by crying that Shaka Smart isn't the right coach to lead the program in the future.

My son turns 9 next week.  Took him to 4 games this season, including today.  After we ate at Real Chili after the game and drove home, he immediately wanted to go outside and shoot baskets. His mom made him take off his Kam jersey (so it wouldn't get dirty), but I can't help to think that all of the success the last 3 seasons as made him a lifelong basketball and Marquette fan.  Can't thank the team enough for that.

That's great.  My kids are life long fans because of the run starting at the end of Crean through the Buzz years when they were the same age.  We are all fortunate that MU takes winning seriously.  It really helps in growing the next generation of fans. This program is in great hands with Shaka.  And those seniors have contributed mightily under his watch.

Agree 100%.

While we are lamenting what could have been in league play, fans of so many programs wish they could have our problems with a bid locked up. That's a nice place to be compared to what we had before Shaka arrived.

I really want this program to capitalize on the success of the past few years and break through, as we all do. We can differ in the opinion of what it takes to get there, and that's okay! Doesn't mean there's not a level of gratitude for what has been accomplished.

wisblue

I am grateful too that because of some of the public events the program has, I have had the chance to meet and talk to the Coach and several of the players to tell them personally how much I have enjoyed watching them and to wish them luck.

I'm sure the players don't remember those brief encounters because they have so many of them. But they  have always left me impressed with how they handle themselves, and have made me and our daughters root even harder for them.

I can only shake my head when I am called a bandwagon fan because I make critical comments. If I were a bandwagon fan I don't think I would have attended and followed MU games regularly since the 60's and held full season tickets since our oldest daughter enrolled at MU over 20 years ago.

The athletic department seems to appreciate my support. I think the gratitude is mutual.

Two tournaments left. I will miss these guys dearly, but their work at MU is not done. Let's f+cking get busy!! 9-0.

I can't speak for others, but I don't question your fanhood. You are more of a glass-half-empty fan than I am, but it doesn't mean you are a lesser fan. As you said in your previous post, you don't rip on individual players, make up idiotic nicknames for them, or wish ill of them at all. You also seem to respect the incredible work Shaka has done here.

Not that it matters, but I like your contribution to Scoop - even if I disagree with you sometimes.

Maybe playing against non-Big East teams and no Big East refs will do wonders for this team.

Shaka was the right hire, never wanted Moser, does not mean I do not want to win championships.  The roster was flawed this year but if all of you are happy in finishing in the middle of the pack then so be it.

Stevie and Kam have been my two favorite players since their freshman year for the constant passion, energy, and effort they brought every game. Heartfelt thanks to them for everything they have contributed to the program. Two exceptional people, above and beyond what they are as players.

Kudos to Jop as well. He truly is a "box of chocolates" guy every game, but there is no questioning his enthusiasm, heart, desire, or love of MU. I also thought he played an exceptional game in his home finale.
If you think for one second that I am comparing the USA to China you have bumped your hard.

Go cry about how unfair it is that Shaka is failing you in one of the dozens of other threads people are doing that. Let's maybe show appreciation for a group of 4 year guys who took us from Wojo's results to what we've seen in the last 4 years. I know they've failed you and it's making your life miserable, but there are other places to cry here.

My 5-year-old grandson, already a big Marquette fan, called me today and said: "Grandpa, did you see when Kam hugged Chase? That was really nice."

I'm grateful for stuff like that, even if a chunk of Scoop thinks they're both losers.
