They are closing 3 of their MKE locations. Their first two locations (Bayside Carry Out and Brookfield Square Dine In) are still open.

Quote from: MU82 on March 04, 2025, 05:28:33 PMHe's a good, active player, so it's logical to expect him to have a good, active game.

We'll probably try to match up Ross or Joplin or Lowery with him when possible, but we'll be switching a lot because that's what we always do.

If When UConn goes wild from 3, it'll probably be impossible to beat them, regardless of what McNeeley does.

So yes, I expect a real good player to be a challenge. Maybe he'll be too good for MU to handle. Or maybe Karaban will stop sucking. Or maybe Ball will excel again. Reed has been one of their best players lately, so maybe he'll be too tough.

Or maybe, just maybe, our guys will be at their very best and we'll steal one in Storrs.

But no, I don't expect McNeeley to have a "career game." Because that was 38 points, and he ain't doing that against Marquette.

There, a more accurate statement in my opinion that will occur at some point during the game.

Scoop Snoop

UCONN favored by 4.5. Marquette coming off a couple of solid wins by margins big enough to provide a counter argument that the opponents are not upper-level BE teams. UCONN has been flukey enough that this game is especially difficult to get a handle on, but I think we might just get our 1st W in Connecticut. And it does not need to be either "(MU) violence" or a "dud". Get a grip Muggsy.

UConn seems to present problems for MU because they have good sets and spacing and are patient enough to wait for a good shot.

Even if MU plays good defense for 25 seconds, they can often make two quick passes and get a good look from a good shooter late in the shot clock.

Last year Spencer and Karaban killed them, and this year it was Ball with some help from Stewart. Karaban and McNeely are also capable of making those shots. They're going to get them; you just have to hope they don't make an excessive number of them,or get too many offensive rebounds off the misses.

UConn is nothing special on defense. MU has to take advantage of that by getting more good looks, and making a lot more of them than they did last time. Making more than half of their FTs would help too.

Yeah, UConn is going to score. We can make it more difficult on them but they are an awesome offensive team.

We need to be more decisive and have a better plan offensively tonight. I suspect we will, but if they keep playing us 1 on 1, Kam and Stevie need to beat their guys. Going 5 out more might help to keep their bigs away from the rim.

When the game starts, I'll be about an hour into my flight home from Hawaii. I plan to get WiFi and I hope that means I'll be able to use my YouTube TV app.

I've already set it to record, but there's no way I won't find out the result before I'd get a chance to watch it.

3PT% Against in 3 of our last 4 losses:

-UConn: 63.2% (12/19)
-Creighton: 39.3% (11/28)
-Nova: 57.7% (15/26)

Obviously not the only factor in those losses but definitely a theme.

Reed has been really good lately but UConn shouldn't be able to bully us with physicality the way St. John's did.

Can we do a better job of guarding the 3?  Do we double less?  Gamble less? Or do what we do and trust that Ball and Steward don't go 10-12 again?

We can't expect to force 20+ TOs again but I do expect us to shoot better.

Quote from: mug644 on March 04, 2025, 05:16:07 PMNot necessarily 39+ points, but I see the potential for him to go off against our defense while Stevie and Chase are focused on Ball and Diarra, and Joplin is on Karaban. I guess I'm simply recalling that we had trouble stopping UConn in Milwaukee (granted, they were hitting everything from deep); so, add in McNeeley and I wonder what he might do.

What do you think he might do, and how might and should MU play him?

To clarify, this is exactly what I meant originally. Maybe I used the term "career game" too lightly or simply have the wrong definition of it, but I meant that as in I wouldn't be surprised if McNeely has one of his better games of the season.

Though McNeely might not even be the biggest issue. I also took a glance at UConn's message board to see what they're saying about this game and they all seem to agree that UConn's best path to winning involves Reed taking advantage of our weak interior D. And they're not wrong.

With airplane WiFi you might have to settle for a play by play on a sports app. In my experience video is often too much for it.

That would suck, but if that's all I'll have I'll have no other choice but to live with it.

Because my mental health is too important to me, I sure as shyte won't be doing this:

MU likes to double team which leaves an open 3 point shooter, Ball 7 for 9 last game, mostly wide open. Let's see if they defend him better this time
