Where's Stevie today? Need him to have a huge half to win

Quote from: PGsHeroes32 on January 18, 2025, 02:04:16 PMWe get more embarrassing by the game

Joplin is 2/8 and 1/5 from 3 and he's likely our best player of the half(thanks to D and rebounding) and having people point to articles on the season to defend his horrible shot selection in this half.

That's how bad it is. His half is getting defended.

Gotta get Ben a triple or two.  Change them packing the paint.  We also have to find a way to get to the line.  Stevie has to be a big part of the 2H imo.  Very disappointing 20 mins.

Elonsmusk

If we don't win turnover margin by a big number/get fast break points, we struggle.  Teams loading up on Kam and rest of the team has been mediocre during conference play.

No reason to turn on our team and discount all the good done in the season up to this point - but we are in a rut at the moment, and hopefully it's a short lived one.

The question is why?  We looked great against Prov.

mileskishnish72

Something is wrong. This team is really not playing well. Stevie still looks unwell, Kam is off, and the underclassmen make me worry about next year.

It would be nice to pull this one out
but we are not playing well enough to be optimistic about the near future.

Teams have figured out the offense.

You're constantly a whiny baby in game threads. Take a look in the mirror for once.

They're capable of flipping the switch in the 2H.  That said, there are concerns for sure.

Quote from: Johnny B on January 18, 2025, 02:02:48 PMAt what point does a slump become something else like a bizzare fall off or regression. Kam shooting under 20 percent from 3 the past 7 games is incomprehensible.

It was similar last year. He has extended stretches of poor shooting. He just needs to see a few in a row go down.

Quote from: muwarrior69 on January 18, 2025, 02:04:32 PMDidn't they get the weekend off before the DePaul game?
Exactly they had a week before the last 3 games, both. That is a lame excuse.
I thought you were dead. Willie lives rent free in Reekers mind. Rick Pitino: "You can either complain or adapt."

I'm usually pretty confident in our second half adjustments and execution. Not sure today. We'll see.

Quote from: jesmu84 on January 18, 2025, 02:10:44 PMTeams have figured out the offense.
What offense?  A bunch of guys who aren't very good at driving to the basket trying to drive to the basket, getting stopped, passing out to the next guy to try?

muhoops1

Zaide out of the rotation surprises me.

Norm

Starting Five are 1-11 from 3, 5-14 from 2, 4 assists, 3 turnovers.

Bench is 2-3 from 3, 2-4 from 2, 0 assists, 4 turnovers.

Overall, MU shooting 31% overall and 21% from 3. Xavier shooting 50% overall and 22% from 3.

Quote from: Zog from Margo on January 18, 2025, 01:56:30 PMTaking Kam off the ball would help, but MU has no other PGs. Maybe stop screening for Kam and let him drive.

I think they tried...and Chase promptly turned it over.

At the beginning of the game they showed Shaka giving slaps of five to the entire bench...except Zaide. Zaide did not look pleased

Yep. They're keeping Kam out of the lane. Making others step up. And they're not.

Yea...he had that one breakout game that delivered a glimmer of hope and then nothing. Shocking because owens and parham have been just awful and turnover machines

Afroman

It would be nice if Marquette had an active big like Freemantle.

Ben is very actively bad today

Weird.  His shot looked pure against Prov.

Zaide is out with illness.
