By way of clarification, a few points as I understand them:

There were evidently 2 serious doxxing incidents that occurred a few years ago - both Wades and Sultan's employers were notified by someone that they were spending a lot of the workday posting on Scoop. The attack on Wades was openly discussed on Scoop. I never even heard of the one on Sultan until yesterday. The mods investigated and determined that the someone was keefe. Contrary to what at least one poster has asserted in this thread, EVERYONE, including those friendly with keefe, condemned the actions, including yours truly and the 4 people currently banned. Rocky says that keefe took most of the blame, which I think implies that others here were involved. From everything I know, this is patently false and giving that impression is unfair.

Those attacks on Wades and Sultan were despicable but nothing remotely like them has been repeated. Furthermore, I don't believe any current Scoop member would do such a thing. But I very much understand, given what happened in the past, that Sultan would and should be more sensitive to anything about his personal life being mentioned than others might be. And I agree with Rocky that attacks on Scoopers (even as jokes) for who they are and what they do rather than what they say has become sport on Scoop and should stop - and the guilty includes a whole lot of us.

Self reflection is good, and I thank Rocky for making all who are even a little self aware engage in some. I'll try to be better.

These are absolute facts:

**I have never disclosed my actual name, location or workplace here. The only reason that ever got out is when I bought MU tickets from a Scooper who has long since stopped posting here. This was over a decade ago.

**After the keefe incident, a few people continued to use my name and mention my employer here. I asked those people to stop, both by public post and through DM.

**Despite this, they continued and actually ratcheted up the past couple of months. This culminated with a poster flat out posting where I work and another where I live.  All within the past couple of weeks.

**The only thing I have done is report a post or two to the mods. I have never asked anyone to be banned.

But let's be clear. This is insanely creepy behavior. Especially when being asked repeatedly to refrain from doing it.

On top of creating this headache, the game sucked. MU won but it was pretty dull.

I don't know if 4ever was the guy that did this to you too. I do know that if he had called my boss to report anything about me, my boss would have made a beeline to my desk asking me if I wanted him to destroy the guy - and considering my boss was the most tech savvy guy I've ever known in the business, it would have been easy. So I doubt that 4ever followed through with any actions on his discovery of who I am.

But as I said earlier, I really don't care if people know who I am.

This is patently false your initial reaction, after Rocky posted the proof of IP addresses matching keefe's account, was to qualify with a head in the sand "I have no idea what did or didn't happen" so what you were saying isn't condemning the actual action of a person rather you turn it into a hypothetical. Essentially, it becomes "well I don't know if my friend did or didn't attack that person but in general attacking a person is wrong." Even after seeing the evidence. See how that's different than "my friend attacked that person and they were wrong for that". It's wasn't till page 8 and your 4th response that you eventually said it was wrong and didn't attempt to make any qualifiers of he's a great guy, or I'm unsure whether he did or didn't do something or the second post where you took a different approach saying "he probably meant it more as a joke, the guys smart he would've known it wouldn't get someone fired" which at the time I agreed with but in hindsight is actually a ridiculous defense and fails to condemn the actual act itself made by the individual instead minimizing it as a prank and removing the invasion of privacy that was emailing the employers.

Furthermore you goose 4ever chili and ziggy continued to make equivalencies with anonymous name calling on a forum (which all parties have been guilty of) and continued to say "if he did this" or "if he owns up to it and confirms he did it then he was wrong" it's along the lines of saying "I'll only condemn my friends actions if he pleads guilty. Sure all the evidence is pretty much irrefutable but only if he says he's guilty would I find them to be in the wrong." Additionally, the name calling equivalencies posted in that thread are ridiculous as they are anonymous and stay in the Scoop bubble, they then attempted to make it a political issue.  While they certainly may not have been involved the bottom line is their character was revealed and at best it's "hear no evil see no evil speak no evil" and at worst it's blind defense of those you like to justify any offense against those you dislike.

The bottom line is your above response reads as if everyone just said "wow crash really crossed a line and needs to own up to it" but that's absolutely not what you or others did.

I've actually never met Crash (that hopefully changes in August) but I am an unabashed and unapologetic fan. He's smart, funny and has a personal history of accomplishment and service for others that I admire greatly.

I have no idea what did or didn't happen here. I know that disagreements often get heated and personal on Scoop. That's unfortunate, but IMO they never should go beyond Scoop's borders.

I was somewhat doxxed back in the day, and while it was weak behavior, I've long since forgiven and forgotten.  I understand the frustration of revealing personal information on a seemingly online message board, and I'd never intentionally do it.  Having said that, it is one thing to reveal personal information, and entirely another to threaten people... and infinitely worse to follow through and actively try to harm another poster.

Another part of me wishes we could just be grown ups here and not do such things.  Permabans suck, and I hope no one else catches one, but I understand the position that the mods are in.  Everyone has different thresholds what they're okay with putting out in the public realm, and it's best practice to let people reveal what they'd like at their own pace, if ever.

Having said this, some of my information is out there and the tooothpaste can't go back into the tube.  If my name gets used, it gets used, I'm not going to make a fuss about it.

Sigh, apparently I need to share some information that may not be clear to everyone.  In cases of abuse, which includes invading another person's privacy,  I can, and am allowed to search through the master database for additional information.  This includes personal messages.  (That's all spelled out in the registration agreement)

I don't have a button I can click to find everything, and reading PMs not intended for me is not a pastime of mine.  This might be the first time in ~18 years I've ever looked at the db tables that include personal messages. 

In this case, I found a PM from 2019 where Sultan's full name was revealed, and it mentioned that an "opening salvo" (actual words from the PM) had been posted on the board about him.

A couple years later, the keefe emails went out.  I didn't *really* blame anyone other than keefe, until recently.  But upon seeing that PM today, along with 'the first attack made in a series of actions intended to achieve a specific result', I banned every single user that was included with the message. 

That may seem harsh.  I think a couple of those users were mostly casual observers to the events that unfolded.  However, upon the revelation that several people had been involved in a coordinated attack, I took action.  Not a single one of them said "hey shoot rocky, this has been going on a while, I never thought it would go this far" after the keefe emails. 

I really hope this can be the end of it.  Sorry to anyone that thought PMs were private when it came to abuse of the website.
