The Sultan

Absolutely one of my favorites. Phenominal player who was fun to watch.

Just one of the greatest ever.  This one really hit me seeing the news break.

Wow.  Shocked to hear.  Always fun to watch play.  Super entertaining player.  Always loved the batting stance.

Oh...no.    I wish I could have seen him play in his prime.  His SB numbers were freaking ridiculous.  May he rest in peace.

Muggs-

He had it all.  He sort of gets lost in the discussion of greatest players because he bounced around a lot at the end of his career and people talk alot about Rickey being Rickey.

He had power, speed and patience.  The ball exploded off his bat.  On base, he changed the complete tenor of an inning.  He won a gold glove but wasn't necessarily an elite defender.  Still, those legs covered a lot of ground.

One of my favorites to watch when he wasn't playing the Brewers.  A true throwback

And one of the reasons he jumped around a lot was because teams traded for him. He was experienced, really good and a fantastic clubhouse guy.

Herman Cain

One of my favorite players of all time in any sport . Excellent in all categories. He was truly the definition of electric. Seeing him live for both A's and Yankees was always a great experience. Lots of fan interaction as well.

I like his batting stance.  Walking him was essentially a double...sometimes a triple.  He must have driven pitchers and catchers bananas.  I would think he's one of the greatest lead-off hitters ever.

I experienced his interactions with fans up close and personal every day for many years. An amazing friend.

Ricky loved to refer to himself in the third person. Interesting guy.

Maybe around 1990 he was playing against the White Sox in old Comisky and me, a couple of friends and a few beers gave Ricky the business for a couple of innings in left field until he turned to give us the "bird". We loved it. One of my favorite players.

The ribbing we gave him was nothing harsh, just "you're a bum" type stuff but as drunk 20 year olds, we thought we were clever and got a reaction from an all time great.
