I graduated in 2019, so all I ever knew was the Wojo experience. I attended nearly all home games for the fun of it during college but never became particularly passionate about MUBB or college hoops in general. That changed because of Shaka.

It's uncanny how perfect a fit Shaka is for Marquette; he's truly the living embodiment of what it means to "be the difference". And as of right now, it's impossible for me to imagine a future in which Marquette ever finds a better coach than him.

After a while, you almost want to play catch phrase bingo.  Or drinking game.  I am a huge Shaka fan.   As a coach, as a leader and educator of young men.  But he is like any other coach.  Once you are tuned in, you can anticipate answers and shorthands.  Every coach this millenia, after a couple of years, you knew all of their answers.   

Ah, well.   I hope we have many more years of Shaka's stock answers.

Haha, I've been wondering what was wrong with me all these years wondering if I was crazy when people said they could listen to Shaka for hours.  HOURS!

He's great, but no great interview.

It depends on the setting. If he gets to just talk ball with a former coach or player it's really interesting. His series of interviews a couple years ago with Doug Gottlieb were worth a listen.

I greatly enjoy Shaka's interviews, listen to as many as I possibly can.

Sure there is repetition, but he's candid and has a lot or really powerful leadership content to his thought.

The beauty is his simplicity.
Take for example the interview with Jen from yesterday- I've heard it before but it's been awhile, and he mentioned that one of the core values in his culture doc is the concept of
"We fail forward"

Some might call it cheese, but if you dig deeper into that that's a lot of merit to it when it comes to leadership and real life success.

His concepts of the importance of getting morning light, staying in constant communication with those close to him thru excerpts from his favorite reads, staying grounded and away from social media to help yourself concentrate on your main goals, etc etc are all impressive things that you don't hear much about from athletics coaches.

In other words, he's a brilliant hoops mind but also has a lot of brilliant life ideas, making him an enlightening listen imo

I can't tell you what you did wrong there (other than acknowledging a deflection) you have to acknowledge it yourself.  You probably should have had 2 deflections.  Once you know your weaknesses, it's not that hard to compensate for them.

This is the best group of posters I've ever encountered though.  Their potential is higher than anyone has ever seen.

I admit it wasn't terrible. It was awesome being able to watch Markus Howard and Andrew Rowsey make life hell for other teams.

But as I'm sure everyone here knows, the atmosphere at the time was never extremely positive. It's not as easy to fall in love with Marquette basketball when those you're surrounded by are constantly yelling "FIRE WOJO!"
