BET Update/Remaining Sked's

MU can finish anywhere from 2nd to 7th in the final conference standings. MU can not win the conference (even with tiebreakers) as G-Town and 'Ville still play each other head to head. Even if both teams lost their two remaining other games, their head to head match up will put one over the other (and ahead of MU).

It'll be extremely unlikely for MU to finish in 7th, as Cincy just needs to lose one more time to guarantee MU a 6 seed or better. Looking at Cincy's remaining sked below, they'll lose at least once.

For MU to finish 6th, West Virginia would have to go 3-1 down the stretch and MU would have to lose out.

MU is most likely to finish from 3rd to 5th.

Even though we hate them, now is a real good time to become a Louisville fan. 'Ville victories over ND and G-Town would be huge for MU's chances at a bye. Louisville is the one team MU really has no legit shot at catching (unless they lose out and we win out, but with two games for them at home, it's unlikely).

ND and UConn's sked's, while they seem favorable, can be dicey. I guarantee South Florida gives the Irish fits at home to end their season.

MU's got no gimmes left, but the biggest thing MU has going for it is only two conference games left. A bye is still well within reach.

G-Town: St. Johns, @MU, 'Ville

UConn: @Rutgers, WVU, @Prov, Cincy

'Ville: ND, Nova, @ G-Town

ND: @'Ville, @DPU, SJU, @SF

WVU: @DPU, @UConn, Pitt, @SJU

Cincy: @Pitt, Prov, DPU, @UConn

How is it that we are the only BE team that has played 16 conference games?

I see ND losing 2 of its last four.  I'm hoping for 3 of 4.

actually, if cinci does lose once and we lose both games and tie them at 11-7 we could still lose the tie breaker if wvu also ties us.  each team would be 1-1 in the mini conference (cinci beat wvu, wvu beat us, we beat cinci).  so it would come down to comparing record against top team in standings.. if it's louisville, we lose the tie breaker because cinci beat them (1-0) and wvu and mu are 0-1 and 0-2 against them respectively. then it would come back to the two team tie breaker between us a wvu - which wvu wins head-to-head.  voila, we're #7.  This scenario is true if Georgetown wins and l-ville is #2 too as all three teams would be 0-1 vs georgetown.

now a LOT has to happen and it's generally doubtful but not impossible.

heck, if pitt wins out and ties with us at 11-7 with the right third team we might lose that tie break too and be #8.  They are 1-0 against georgetown and 1-1 against l'ville which both trumps us.  how do you like dem apples  >:(

the tie breaker scenario is so complicated it's hard to keep straight most times.  heck I might even be wrong on my interpretation.. it's almost like the conference must have a guy who studies it full time and gets paid solely for the purpose of figuring this all out come beast tourney time.

Pitt's actually only played 'Ville once, and lost to them. However, you are right.

Any Pitt/MU/WVU tiebreaker would (assuming Pitt wins out and WVU's only loss is to Pitt and Cincy has two more losses) would work out like this:

Pitt
WVU
Marquette

Any Pitt/MU/Cincy (assuming Pitt wins out and Cincy's only lose is to Pitt and WVU has two more losses) would work out this way:

MU
Cincy
Pitt

Any MU/Cincy/WVU tiebreaker would get messy (at least as of right now). It would most likely work out against MU (since MU has played Louisville and ND four total times). The fact that both play UConn is huge. If either one were to beat UConn (and tie MU and each other), who ever beats UConn would win the tiebreaker.

Any Pitt/MU/Cincy/WVU tiebreaker would work out like this:

MU
Pitt
Cincy
WVU

All that said, it's still highly likely MU finishes anywhere from 3rd-5th. Considering the sked's of the teams involved, it would be amazing for any of these to happen.
