Quote from: MarquetteMike1977 on January 07, 2025, 03:58:12 PMMarquette is tied yet with Auburn and Oregon for the most combined Quad 1 and 2 Wins in the Nation with 7.
Marquette has the 2nd most Quad 1 Wins in the Nation with 5.
Marquette is also 2nd in the Nation in WAB.
The NET Rankings have a new metric this season called WAB — Wins Above Bubble. It's used to evaluate how many more wins a team has compared to what an NCAA Tournament "bubble" team would be expected to have against the same schedule, using the NET Rankings as the basis for opponent strength.
This is not true. Memphis has 10 combined Q1 and Q2 wins.

Marquette's NET is #13 Today But their WAB is #3
Cupcake basher Arizona's NET is #14 but their WAB is #40

Quote from: The Thing on January 05, 2025, 01:35:56 AMI have been throwing this stat out there too but it is wrong. Memphis has 9 combined Q1 and Q2 wins (6-0 Q2). Auburn and MU are tied for second with 7.

I stand corrected. Marquette and Auburn are tied for second with 7.  I did not think of looking that high up in the NET rankings. That helps explain Memphis 7 in the WAB.

Update Memphis leads with 10  and Marquette and Auburn are tied for second with 8

Memphis has a fascinating schedule.  Only 2 Q3 games and 1 Q4 game so far. And the Q4 game is 1 spot from being a Q3. Can't say they didn't challenge themselves in the noncon

Yeah, I'm actually surprised they aren't ranked higher. I guess one Q3 loss can have a really big impact on your NET.

It's largely margins. Their three losses (including two at home) were all 13+ point blowouts, including Arkansas State. Their wins, on the other hand, are generally close. 7/12 wins were by single digits.

Their profile reminds me a lot of 2022 Providence. Great record, some really nice wins, but the lopsided losses hurt their metrics. They had the win profile of a 2-seed and the metric profile of a 9-seed. The Committee generally gave them a break by slotting them as a 4-seed. Wisconsin getting a 3-seed that same year with poor predictive averages is another indicator that Memphis will probably be seeded a little lower than their wins indicate, but higher than their KP average.

Herm, are you taking a sabbatical?  I can't speak for the rest of scoop but I like the fact that you posted the NET rankings for the BEast teams every day.  I guess I could look it up myself, but since I spend so much (too much?) time on Scoop, it was easier to just check your updates.

My guess is that Herman showed himself the door as a show of support for the permabanned guys.  His name and a few others no longer appear on the member roster.

Maybe. But will Creighton and St. John's?
They look like the class of league right now. Have not seen Johnnies play, but Creighton looks awesome.
