I hope all of our scoop friends in FL, especially SW FL, have a safe week. Definitely keeping an eye on things and sending positive vibes down to FL.

Will this be Paradise Lost, by Milton?
Luke 6:45   ...A good man produces goodness from the good in his heart; an evil man produces evil out of his store of evil.   Each man speaks from his heart's abundance...

It is better to be fearless and cheerful than cheerless and fearful.

This thing isn't coming ashore anywhere close to Milton.
"I am one of those who think the best friend of a nation is he who most faithfully rebukes her for her sins—and he her worst enemy, who, under the specious and popular garb of patriotism, seeks to excuse, palliate, and defend them" - Frederick Douglass

Finally heard from my cousin. Bad flooding - stranded for 3 days with no power. House will be salvageable but her daughter's house is gone.

To make things worse - when she finally contacted family in Kenosha she leather brother died unexpectedly last week.

Scoopers, be thankful for your good lives. I left home Friday for a monthlong vacation and I will be appreciative for every minute.

Latest track is more south, good news for storm surge in Tampa Bay. Bad news for us and folks south of Tampa.
Not sure what our little ones in Orlando are going to do now. The plan was to have them come down here.

Don't worry. Joe and Kamala will guide the storm to a red area of the state.

Yea, relative good news for the TB area.  Spent the morning and first half of the early games filling sandbags with/for my parents and assorted other people at the stations they've set up. Still gonna get wind, but this will hopefully mitigate the storm surge so quickly after Helene.  As a silver lining, Helene def woke people up to prepare and get ready for Milton, which I don't think was the case pre-Helene, I was guilt myself.  The projected surge if Milton didn't move south would have been just horrific so close after.

I would think your family in Orlando should probably be good to stay with the new path?

Thanks everybody for your kind thoughts. Ms. Dgies and I as well as our fellow Floridians appreciate your concerns.

Many of us, myself included, have been known to make fun of Floridians -- and with good reason. But like tornados, earthquakes and even bad blizzards, when this stuff happens, we stand together as one. For all its flaws, our state government and major private institutions in Florida are really good at hurricane recovery. After Hurricane Ian a few years ago, thousands of utility trucks and Publix trucks waited just outside the impact zone to get the power on and provide water and other essentials.

Ms. Dgies and I are in Hungary this week on a long planned Danube cruise. So we will be safe. But please keep our fellow Floridians in your prayers this week.

I suspect the track will move a bit both directions in the coming days. Right now, one headed home, one staying. With the storm slowing, it gives her a bit more time to change her mind. One of her roommate's family is at ground zero in Sarasota. They just moved there last year.  :'(
Sadly, wherever landfall occurs, it will be ugly.

Current expected track for Milton.

First time a hurricane went this way since 1867.

Doesn't this seem odd to anyone? Especially during an election year

What about nukes?

You can't nuke a hurricane because the government controls them both.  The troops are anti-government and would be better suited to stop a hurricane, even if they are suckers and losers
