Haven't played volleyball in years and know nobody cares how my pickup or rec league basketball games go or what my schedule is or what I wore to play in.

Kneepads, I can't imagine you playing bball. Here's an offer: 25 NBA treys (around the world, 5 each) you vs. me. Loser pays winner $200.

Imagine thinking a three-point shooting contest is the same as playing ball.

Again, nobody cares how good or bad I am at hobby sports (or, in your case, "sports").

Still open to shooting contests for money (praise Markus), but quick update: 18 team field in men's doubles; we took bronze. 7-2 on the day; only losses were to the champs (who entered illegally).

Mixed tomorrow. I'm gonna be AMP'd

Played my second tennis match of the new season today. Battled the heat and won 7-6, 7-5. Was down 5-1 in the second and then mentally broke him. Serving is coming around. Backhand is coming around. Forehand is ELITE.

I will say.. there are some tennis guys that make me wish I played that sport more back in the day. The top spin I've seen from a few tennis people lately is just insane and something I need to work on. I mean, vicious weapon. Drives with crazy bite. I can bring some of these dudes to the net and get 'em... but, man those drives with wild top spin are fun to watch, even at my own expense.

Up next:
Monday - new league.. 3.75-4.25. Top court should be good - I think we'll all be 4.1-4.4. Never played a league at this spot in Minneapolis and only know a couple of the players.. so, should be a good experience.

Saturday & Sunday - men's doubles Saturday morning and mixed on Sunday. On paper, we're going to be very strong - need to make it happen on the court. As usual, aiming to collect a medal both days. #Pray

Love the direction this thread is going. Let's keep it to updates on a real sport, tennis. Would love to hear updates from athletes on here.

I thought that's why someone started a Darts thread.

In grad school in the late 1980's at Marquette.
They would have free tennis at Helfaer center on either Friday and/or Saturday night.  Would play until they closed the place at around midnight.  Great alternative to the bars.

Graduated and worked in Minneapolis metro.  Northwest tennis and fitness clubs let you play year round.

Unfortunately, now back doesn't cooperate.  Great sport and enjoyed it immensely when I could play.
Always just a playground player, but if you hit the ball enough, you figure it out.

Sounds like pickleball might be the sport for you right now then.

WTH, JB?  Beer City Open and no word from you?   Very disappointed in you.  Trading insults in person is so much fun.  Maybe next year.

Won both my matches yesterday vs the other undefeated team. our coed team is now 5-0 and likely has clinched our playoff spot for a chance at nationals in Vegas.

Was pretty hot out too so I'm feeling it in my legs today. lots of running in tennis.

Good looking tourney. Maybe next year indeed. Could have dominated the 50-59 4.0-4.5 divisions.

Took one to the face yesterday (pawz). Nasty shot to the eye. Guy that got me is like 6'3" 280, heavy hitting lefty. Massive swelling and today I've got a floater going crazy, so hoping it's not a retinal tear. Nonetheless, heading to a club shortly for a tune up. Have a tournament tomorrow morning at the PPA Challenger Tour event in Eau Claire, WI -- men's singles. #PrayersUp

Outdoor event... guy from North Carolina looks like the favorite on paper, but other than that I feel like I should be decent despite rarely playing singles. 6 from Wisconsin, 2 from Minnesota, 2 from Canada and the NC guy are in the field. Weather (outdoor tourney) looks like it will cooperate.

I recently learned that a number of brands are selling pickleball specific shoes, touting the distinct needs and features that are necessary to differentiate from tennis shoes (shoes made for actual tennis play, not the general term).  I appreciate the hustle and scam, Bob and Tammy definitely need more grip and support from a shoe for their neighborhood matches than could be offered from the insufficient shoe Alcaraz or Sinner wears.

Clinched the 1 seed in our tennis league despite an injured back holding back my kick serve weapons. Grinded it out vs a 23 yr old hard hitter through sheer will in the heat. 2.5 hour match that had a 3rd set tiebreaker. Thank goodness it wasn't a full third set or I might have passed out.

For those of you who need a cardio comparison, that's like 1.5 games to 11 of pickleball in JB's league based on unconfirmed reports

Way to go, big hitter. Is just one match in a day pretty normal?

I just got home from the PPA Challenger event at Lake Hallie, WI (Eau Claire area), competing in men's singles. Two pools of 5, top 2 in each pool advance to medal round (semi's). I still don't know how to play singles strategy wise, but learning quickly and it's a blast. Went to the medal round.. played top seed and lost 15-13. Bro is a 4.4 doubles guy and 4.3 singles from Canada. Very good.

Bronze match I played another Canadian .. I was better, but was flippin tired. Went down 1-10 because of laziness. Then I got my second wind.. came back to lead 13-11. Then took a dump on the court. Absolutely out of gas. It was getting freaking hot out there around 1pm. Lost again 15-13.

Tough to be so close, yet so far, but just my second singles tourney and again learned a lot.

This was the first tourney I've been in with actual refs for each game. At first I was a little freaked by it because I didn't know PPA refs would be doing our games.. but after a few minutes I came to like it. Favorite part of the refs was getting a verbal warning for profanity. It was the last game of the day.. and I had been trying to control my potty mouth (not easy).. guy tries to lob on me.. I meant to kill him on a beautiful angle, but instead sent back an absolute dud to the middle of the court.. right when I hit it I yelled, 'SH1T!' and the crowd started laughing because of how loud it was.. but, guy returned it back and I finished him off with the next shot (pawz).  But then the ref scolded me.

PS - I think the cardio comps might be off. Not to mention, I think some of us PB players play for a lot longer than tennis ze's. I'm flippin exhausted.. early AM start .. and lots of time in the car.. fortunately I procured a case of Spotted Cow on the way home and am downing one now.. probably will have a couple more, then it may be a super early bed time. #Relationships #Growth #AlmostVictory
