[Cracked Sidewalks] Stonehill Preview
« on: September 18, 2024, 07:55:06 AM »
The first game after an MTE is traditionally one of the spots you want to face your weakest buy game opponent. While Marquette will just be playing one game in The Bahamas, their weakest on-paper opponent is definitely the first game back from that trip. Stonehill cratered to bottom-4 in the country per kenpom and looks to have gotten worse in the offseason. Couple that with an offense with weaknesses that play directly into Marquette's defensive strengths and this one could get ugly. Nonetheless, today we break down Stonehill.

A good game to leave the starters on the bench and let the next generation of Warrior show what they can do.

I'd say play it like Houston/Iowa State do and run the margin up to 40-50. With how often they turn it over and how poorly they defend in transition, we should murderize them.

Both/and.   Run it up AND play the young guys.

My wife is a loyal Marquette fan, but being a Stonehill alumna, she's not looking forward to this game. She wishes Stonehill never scheduled it.  ;D

One of my best friends went to Stonehill and I've partied with him there several times post-Marquette graduation.
The same friend's son just started his freshman year of Stonehill this month.

I only heard of Stonehill a few years ago. They are affiliated with the Congregation of the Holy Cross, like Notre Dame. Ed Cooley is a graduate of SC. This will be their third year in D1. I would imagine they're getting a nice paycheck from us.

Stonehill is this year’s Radford - I am very concerned.

I once saw them referred to as St. Onehill and haven't been able to get it out of my mind since. I prefer to refer to them that way. Not sure why but thinking about it always makes me chuckle.
