100% capacity in a 10,000-seat arena is nice. However, that does not mean the same school would have 100% capacity in a 15,000-seat arena.

2020-2021 might be slightly off.

It's correct going off game box scores.

Covid year with no/limited crowds.

Clearly you haven't been to Discount Den for a soda/pop

LOL I never understood why the Discount Den was such a big deal when I was there.  Purdue does have two fantastic Pete Dye designed (and redesigned) golf courses, which is something else to do in W.L., albeit not during basketball season...

I remember when we were selling out the arena every game for many years and then somebody discovered the seating capacity number was an over count.  Probably a Badger fan!

Smart ass comment #1:  I don't recall ever being at a sporting event and seeing an attendance guessing game on the Jumbotron based on percentage of capacity.

Smart ass comment #2:  So if a Michigan football game at the big house was 10 people short of a sellout, the thought would be that is a less impressive crowd than the University of (insert college name with small stadium here) having a sell out?

Their athletic department's cool stat can be "Longest streak of sellouts". MU's cool stat is "8th Largest average attendance"

Seriously, some people are never happy.

Come on, the fact that MU is 8th in the nation is a reason to bitch and argue?

I can't wait for Scoops hot takes on "water is wet" and "1+1=2".

Marquette averaged a sellout at the MECCA for many years.  Even with Dukiet, they had close to capacity every game.  Then they moved to the Bradley Center and exceeded the MECCA numbers every year.

As others have said, it is very impressive  to draw crowds like this given the size of the school and having an NBA team in town.

LOL! Scoop never fails.

Can we have a debate on the correct English spelling of 'A' , 'I' and 'On'?

We're saving that for September.

What is the definition of 'is'?   Depends.

Not in 1999-2000, Deane's last season at the helm. But other than that we've exceeded 10K in average attendance every year since we were just under 10k in 1966-67. The one year that surprises me for average attendance is 2001-02, where we averaged under 13K considering the success the team and has buzz after the GAS title.

I have been very impressed with attendance the past couple of years. It definitely is a lot of fun going to sold out games and the fans being into the game. Job well by MU basketball.

burger

Looking at those attendance stats.  Best overall attendance home/away/neutral since the Wade 2003 year.

So when the whole country knows.   The whole country knows.

And I don't think there will be much of a blip.

When teams start seeing that Shaka is Red-shirting prep players instead of them going for a prep school year with those last 3 new scholly's. The re-classify's.....I think there will be some copy-cats.   Maybe as soon as next year.

Yes, correct.  It get's the kids a leg up on school plus basketball balance.  Getting to school early and having four years of school work be able to be spread out over five years is smart.

I stand corrected...I didn't remember that plunge in attemdece.  I guess that further justified why they moved on from Deane.  We only finished two spots ahead of DePaul that year...they averaged over 9700 per game that year.  Things have certainly changed since that time.

Can't even fathom that. I know I went to a DePaul game as a kid when they had fans but it just seems so impossible now days
