Quote from: MU82 on March 17, 2025, 04:17:14 PMDavante didn't play defense. He also was one of several developmental bigs that Buzz took a flier on; he just happened to work out as a good below-the-rim scorer. Hopefully, we'll all eventually be happy that Shaka took a flier on Clark.

And for the record, I'm not at all opposed to Marquette landing this center from Iowa if he really wants to transfer to our program. All I've said is that Shaka would have to do a very good job communicating to his players if it happened, and that it could possibly lead to some dominoes falling (which might not necessarily even be a bad thing).

I remember Buzz saying something along the lines of "all I know is that he's a really fat guy who can score." Davante had a light, gentle shot-as if he was handing off a bay to you.
Wild horses couldn't drag me into either political party, but for very different reasons.

On 3 speculates that Freeman will end up at Michigan, Arkansas, Gonzaga, or Creighton. A rodent friend of mine says that UW has made contact with Freeman. I have not heard anything with Freeman linked to MU.

This rodent is my brother in law - I have no other option, but to be friendly with him if I want things to stay good at home. I am in a pickle here and do not have many options.

Creighton...but wait...one poster here thinks Creighton is not good. So that says a lot about the Beast. They finished second.

Tom Crean just said that he had $6200 in NIL to work with in his last year at Georgia which was the first year of NIL.

Says he will coach again.

I mean he is only 58, but I don't think a major program will take a chance with him considering what happened at Georgia. I could see him at the mid-major level.

I don't necessarily disagree but what "happened" at Georgia that you refer to?  Just the fact that they never really got any better while he was there?

If he insists on coaching - not sure why, he's better on TV these days - going the Anthony Grant route would be a good move for him. Go find a decent A-10, MVC or even Patriot League program where he could have a nice 6-8 year run before retiring. Heck, make it a public school and he'd exit with a nice state pension.

Quote from: willie warrior on May 13, 2024, 01:31:53 PMIf he really is against using the portal, then he will either sink or swim with his philosophy. Personally against the whole concept of the portal, but it looks like it will be around for a while, so might as well use it for some players that seem to fit. Biggest concern is that other BEast teams are using it and some having success, like UCONN, and look what it has done for them. Nothing wrong with developing your players over time, and you can be successful with that, but it likely will not get you into the upper echelons of college BB. We shall see how it goes for Shaka's philosophy.
Willie, every coach sinks or swims with their philosophy.  There are plenty of examples of schools that failed to come together extensively using the portal.   Iu, Villanova.  Butler.  Buzz's JUCO model worked until it didn't.
