Going big was a bad idea. They couldn’t guard the perimeter, WKU started hitting shots, and started rolling.

It was. Jop isn’t guarding anyone and isn’t scoring to compensate. WKU is just too quick for him. Launching 3s is killing them. The FT shooting continues to be inexcusable.

The bottom line is we were totally outplayed for the last 8 mins or so.  And if we're just going to jack up threes we're in trouble.  Yes, we've missed wide open ones, but we're essentially getting zero in the paint.  And then to add insult to injury they got a little hot from the arc and our defense broke down.

Like in the BET last year against national champion UConn? Or against a top 10 Xavier.

And they followed that up by wilting in the NCAAs.  So in the end the BE tourney meant very little.

They have a lot of size and speed. Marquette struggling to get good looks it’s shocking. They are not playing anything near a 15 seed. Probably the best first half from a 15 ever.

Strongly disagree. They've had outstanding looks from 3

Pace affected our defense some. 24 playing out of his mind. Chase playing like garbage.

Gonna need to ride Kolek, Kam, Stevie. Oso neesds to step up. Would like to see a little more Zaide. His length and athleticism wouod br a good fit to defend 24.

So we need an entire new program?
Based on this performance, something is obviously wrong. Pure dung.
Even if we pull it out, which is highly doubtful, this is obviously embarrassing.
A 15 seed.
I thought you were dead. Willie lives rent free in Reekers mind.

I hear this every year.  Some how Marquette always gets the team that plays way better than their seed.  At some point you maybe have to accept the issue is with Marquette.

There is a lot of truth in this and I am beginning to wonder why.

Bewildered by Oso.  Not even looking at the basket.  That push shot is there and he hasn't attempted one.

Nightmare of a 1st half...hard to even believe.

I’m pretty sure it’s only hard for you to believe.  I told you last week just wait.

Outside of a major injury, that was about the worst case scenario half. And we’re only down 7. Need to come out of the half a new team. Kam and especially Oso need to figure it the F out. Plenty of game left.
I would take the Rick SLU program right now.

That's the most puzzling thing.  He really hasn't looked at the rim much.

Your first sentence is true. Your second sentence has incredibly flawed logic. The BET was bright lights. They excelled. Then they didn’t.

More than even scoring he needs to start rebounding like a man

Agree on everything said about Oso. He’s gotta play smartly and aggressively. Seems like his mind is moving way too fast.

I think we’ll adjust but their speed and length are trouble. Need OSO to get involved

I disagree. They don't look that fast or long. We just sucked. We played tight and afraid, they played like they have nothing to lose.

We need to quit playing scared.

It’s beyond frustrating how they came out today. No idea what Kam was doing to start the game. That blown layup attempt…wtf was that? Most of these turnovers are unexplainable. The free throw shooting has been atrocious.

Other than that, everything else is great.

Thank God Kolek is back. Without him we’d be down 20. Some guy who averages 8 points is killing us. Zero from Oso. Less than that from Ross. Still, if we just made free throws the game could be about tied.

"If you ignore the tournament wins over top 10 teams, they haven't had good tournament performances"

Conference tournaments are not equal to THE tournament.  To pretend it is is silly.  Just look how everyone on this board said rest Kolek during the BE tourney. Save him for when it really matters.

UConn Huskies fan here. FWIW, our fanbase likes Marquette a lot and are pulling for your team. Marquette is bricking too many open 3s from Kolek's penetration kick outs. But the biggest issue is the live ball turnovers and defense. Marquette is at their best when they pressure in the half court getting up into the opposing teams' face and forcing deflections and turnovers. They have to tighten up their D big time. Still another half to go, though.

Until 3:22 when the UConn-Stetson game starts,...

"We are Marquette, we are Marquette!"
