memphis lost, but...
« on: February 23, 2008, 10:42:43 PM »
these guys are good! They could have easily won.  I would hate to play these guys.

Calipari has picked up an ItalianAmerican-Memphis accent.

I just dont like Bruce Pearl
You heard it here first. Davante Gardner will be a Beast this year.

I'm not a big Pearl fan either, but he's a good coach.  As is Calipari, though unfortunately I think he's the only classy thing about the Memphis program.

agree, Joey Dorsey is a huge whiner, just play the game, even Dickie V said it at the end of the game, you played a horrible game, with all your antics during the game, hope Calipari tears you a new one in video.

Agreed. And good point in bringing it up.

There is only one aspect of the Memphis that is remotely likeable and that's Derrick Rose, IMO.

For all the uproar about Indiana hiring a coach that once cheated I'm shocked that people let Calipari slide considering any of his achievements in college at UMass have been vacated due to infractions.

Memphis is really good but they are just as flawed as we are.  Memphis is better than us but with their poor outside shooting and very poor free throw shooting, matchups will play a role in how far they advance in the tourny.  I am not sold on Tennessee either although Pearl has them playing great.  IMO NC, Kansas and UCLA are a notch above everyone.

UCLA? Did you see the game against Oregon yesterday - boring.

Its very interesting how everyone in the Top 20 is flawed and very beatable these days.  I was watching an early 80's game at the dean dome between NC and Maryland - jordan v. bias.  The game has really dropped in terms of fundamentals and stars. I guess Jordan and Bias would not have gone college in todays game.

UCLA boring?  Most definitely.  Similar to Wisconsin but with a lot better talent.  They have an absolute beast in Love and play some real tough defense.

maybe the game has dropped in fundamentals... but stars... are you joking??

Michael Beasley, there has been no one like him, except maybe Kevin Durant last year.... also players are 1 and done these days... that game you watched, what year was Jordan and Bias?

could you imagine if Durant stayed? if Oden stayed? if Beasley stays?  How about Gordan, Rose, Love, etc.

talk to any reporter/analyst, players these days are so much more prepared/better/stars then in the old days due to AAU.

I will agree with fundamentals, but stars, the NCAA has plenty of them.

I don't see what exactly he touches, as it is too zoomed in.. but it gave Erin a good smile.
