UConn/MU game thread

When Nova was the No. 1 team going into the tournament, I was on board rooting for them when MU was eliminated.  I have no such feeling with UCONN

Can't match 3s with layups. But our guys are playing tough. Offense is disjointed w/o TK

Only down 11 when:

UConn 60% from three
UConn 22 rebounds, 8 offensive. MU 11 rebounds, 2 offensive
UConn 11 assists, MU 2

And Joplin/Ross have one total point. 11 down is pretty darn lucky.

I guess somehow there was a dime on that Oso finish.  22-11 on the glass is the biggest issue.

I got nervous when uconn didn't take a TO after our 12-0 run

They are bigger, stronger and quicker, just as tough and have more shooters.

THe big thing I noticed in both games against them this year is that our ball movement is not existent.  A lot of one guy drives, if nothing is there, they kick it out and the next guy tries.  Basically Uconn is big and athletic enough to avoid doubles as much as possible, keeping their other guys home.  Makes it very tough for us.

Ross has to give us something if we are going to make this a game.

However, imo can't keep using up so much energy to try to score at the rim on offense, then they can't defend and rebound on the other end.

So, launch up 25 second half threes and see what happens.

Marquette has made 3 threes at half, they will need 13+ to have a chance at winning this, so bombs away and hope for the best.

Gotta go the mid major hoping for a prayer offensive approach tonight and just dog it out on the other end.

I know we have no love lost for Huey and UConn, but have to admit that despite having overwhelming talent, they also play incredibly hard.

Your seeing some of the weaknesses on MU offensive side,  Ross has no offensive game, no mid range shot at all, Jop is not quick enough to get open, Kam is a step slow, , plus without Kolek MU does not have a point right now, if this does not show Shaka he better find a point for next year he is not watching what we're seeing, 2 assists in first half.  Norman

UConn is really good.  When shooting this well, can't be beat.  To beat them, we need the following -

- at least one healthy point guard
- an active, engaged Joplin
- advantage in 50/50 balls
- turnover advantage

None happened in 1st.  It's time for Joplin to show some maturity and bring energy.

Id actually feel better if we were trying to run similar offense to the one we do all year with TK but it wasnt working due to guys being much worse and throwing bad passes left and right.

The fact we are not even trying is much more concerning. Because it means we know without trying its already hopeless.

Agree as long as Norman doesn't shoot them. He's now 4 for 28 on year.  He got in game shot an ugly three in like 20 seconds and Shaka yanked him for remainder.

Watch, he'll hit five straight in second half.......
