Kam-pfire
« on: February 25, 2024, 06:08:05 PM »
1.  MU starts to pull away in the first half, Stevie gets his second foul, stagnation ensues.
2.  Of course, part of the problem in the first half was clanging free throws.
3.  Zaide and Tre combine to be an adequate 8th man in the rotation.
4.  Kam appears to be healed.
5.  Stevie back to start the second half.  Necks were stomped on.
6. No one not named Kam Jones looked good from 3.
7.  Kolek messing around and getting a double double.
8.   An appropriate show for the 74 team.

I see why Shaka like Tre. He is always in the right place defensively. He needs to get stronger and develop more of a varied offensive game, but he looks like he belongs.

There was a stretch early in the 2nd half where Jop shot a 3 it was so bad it hit the top of the backboard, Marquette got the rebound kick it out to Lowrey for 3 which airballed, got the rebound again and got hit with a shot clock violation. Luckily we were up by 30 already and it was a laughable moment. Buy yes, anyone but Kam was bad from 3.

Badly missed shot….or bad pass……hands on ball….ends up in Tyler’s hands…..pass…..score……rinse and repeat.

Tre does a nice job using his body strength to create space when he goes in for a lay up. Going to be a solid player in the coming years.

despite Gold Brick, MU is cleaning its plate at dinner time. Order some dessert because we are running the table over these final 4 games.

I thought Kam had a different bounce today.  His downhill attacks were quicker and I saw more balance in his J.  When Kam is in you can't guard me mode, MU becomes exponentially more dangerous.

For sure Muggs.

I think Kam is the biggest key to the end of the season for Marquette.

His microwaveability is second to none, as is his ability to completely go broke and disappear unfortunately.

IMO the biggest key for Marquette in the end of the season stretch is getting Kam going and comfortable from 2. He was that today. When Kam makes it look easy going to the hoop, things open up for him from beyond the arc, and when his shot goes down usually (not tonight) the others outside shot starts to go down too.

Fun game today, really glad I attended and brought my wife and 3 year old.

I think the quickness of their offense just overwhelms teams after awhile. And when the defense starts putting the clamps down...

Dr.V,

I know this going to sound like nitpicking, especially after his performance this afternoon, but Kam can get any shot he wants in open space.  My point is that I would like to see him take (and drain) a few stop and pops from inside the paint after the initial blow-by.  Jenkins from SJU did that beautifully vs Creighton.

The result from making that shot on occasion, and we have seen him do it, will be very similar to what Krill are thinking before a Blue Whale approaches their general area.  In other words a feeling of total helplessness, and the understanding that nothing can be done to prevent inevitable death.  Imo that's what hitting that shot every so often can do for our offense.

This. Strange vibe at the Fiserv, low energy most of the night, ho hum, then up 30. Crazy late afternoon affair

Nah. Take it to the rim or shoot the 3

That was a low energy day at the office. To be honest, that is a good sign to me. Nice to have a messing around day and no stress.

I'm just saying once in awhile.  If you watched Creighton/SJU I think you'll agree that shot is there any time we need a quality look.  If Kalky is going to stand 4 feet from the rim, make him pay by draining thaf shot every so often.

One sign Kam is feeling better is the way Tyler has approached the last two games. Neither were really in doubt, and he made it a point to be a distributor first, second, and third.

He'll get his when it counts, but if Kolek gets the others into a groove when it's win-or-go-home, this team can be very dangerous.
