I cannot wait till Saturday.

You and me both, Muggs. Anyone know of a good Marquette bar in Philly?

I had three goals when Shaka came to MU, proving that MU is indeed a basketball school, sellout crowds at the FF and playing in very, very meaningful games and all three boxes are checked. Saturday is the type of game that anyone that believed that MU fans deserved better has waited a long time for.

Saturday is big for February and the goal is big wins in March and April. This team and program is being built for the long haul and big wins in the tournament is still needed. I'm going to enjoy the hype for Saturday and counting on a dogfight. That said, a lot of work has been put in for more meaningful wins later in the season. This is a culture being built and still more work to be done.

Goose,

There's been a lot of inane whistling dixie nonsense about this MU team because of one putrid performance and Tyko's' mini slump.  Now, I still think we can kick it up another notch but I appreciate your foresight and overall thoughts.  You have not wavered and have seen the entire picture.  Lots of work to do but this team has the weaponry and moxie needed to inflict damage.

They have yet to play a full forty minute game, maybe not even a 35 minute game this year, but look to be closer. Plenty of room for upside and improvement.

To be honest, I don't fault anyone that got jittery, but I do think it was premature and not looking big picture. It has been an exciting two years of MU basketball but widely different. Last year was unexpected and this year is taking care of business. Taking care of business is a lot less flashy and exciting.

Yes. I'm hoping Kam can get healthy.  I don't think he's quite right.

We want the guys healthy in four weeks. Not talking crazy, but they have enough to win on Saturday without a 100% Kam.

Oh...I agree with you for sure.  We will need to bring it for 40 mins and we can.

The Kansas game was as complete a game I've seen Marquette play since Wade dismantled Kentucky enroute to the Final Four.  Marquette can beat UCONN on the road, but Mitchell, Kam, and Gold have to hit the open 3's.  Oso needs to finish at the rim and Joplin needs to play within himself.  Best defensive team I've seen at Marquette since the 3 Amigos.

Should be fun.

I think the Baylor game last year was the best game of basketball I have ever seen MU play, but UK with Wade is fair argument. The Kansas game was extremely good, but I think they broke Kansas will to win and were able to coast a bit. That said, will not disagree it was a great effort.

Here's hoping that Oso can outplay Clingan like he outplayed Dickinson. The way Oso has stepped up against highly talented big men this year leads me to know that he can do it. So, please, do it.

It'll be a tough matchup for Clingan. Thought Sanogo was the worse matchup for us.

warriorfred

I forgot about Baylor.  That was a signature win far beyond what I expected at the time.  In hindsight, it is still a bit unbelievable.

Still sticking with that Kentucky game for completeness.

It's there, but the other pieces need to connect (e.g. a wide open 3 from Gold or a Mitchell drive and finish).

El Guerrero 2

My prediction for Saturday is that Oso dominates Clingan, just like he dominated Dickinson, Kalkbrenner, and Soriano (twice). Clingan won't have the foot speed to keep up and will be in foul trouble most of the game. That opens everything up for the rest of the team and makes it a winnable game, even on the road.

1 vs 4 in February seems pretty rare to me.  We should all be inordinately proud of this team but let me tell you something.....we have not played our A game imo.  We've had stretches of brilliance, and Tyko going ballistic, but the answer is no, we have yet to go full medieval for 40 mins.  I'm hoping we see it on Saturday.

Goose

I have no facts on this, but I do not think 1vs4 happens very often at all. It definitely is special and should be appreciated by all of us. I think someone posted on here that it is only the third time UConn has hosted a top five matchup, that says it all to me.

Hope so. UCONN will also need to play well to beat us.

The Fox people need to get up off their ass Goose and have an hour special hyping the game.

I'm thinking if there have been 1 vs 4 matchups in Feb before, it may have been Duke UNC since they've had so many years of consistency.

When I read your first sentence I thought you were referencing Tyko's ill-fated drive last night.
