100% Stevie. Only guy who was playing basketball for the entire game.

And I hate Stevie.

It is if you believe in math / years / karma / history / basketball gods

George Thompson scored 1,773 points in his Marquette career. Markus scored 2,761 points in his Marquette career.

George Thompson scored 1,773 in his sophomore, junior, and senior years. Markus scored 2,351 points in his sophomore, junior, and senior years.

George Thompson scored 1,773 in his first three years of eligibility. Markus scored 1,955 in his first years of eligibility.

No matter how you slice it. Markus Howard is our all time leading scorer. You disliking him doesn't change that.

And Jerel and Lazar are ahead of George

Just to add to this, since the next argument will be the 3pt line didn't exist,

Markus made 434 3s,

82 Freshman year. 121 Senior year.

Deduct those points and it still puts Markus ahead of Thompson.

And Jerel and Lazar are ahead of George

Jerel gave an interview saying George did what he did in 3 years and without a 3pt line so he didn't consider himself the all time scoring leader. Can't speak for lazars view of himself being runner up but the logic holds up for why George's record was more impressive.
Retire Terry Rand's jersey!

BCHoopster

There's one point guard who maybe was not the best, but like Stevie Mitchell, was the glue and that was Jim Boylan.  Not the best athlete but was surrounded with great players.  All he did was have a great game against NC to help when the championship.

BCHoopster

That's win the championship

I think Macura probably was more widely disliked. Didn't he have on and off court issues?

We R Final Four

Wow. Well, Shaka loves him and that's all that matters.

BrewCity83

Most of the most hated players were dirty players:  Brad Davison, Eric Devendorf, Bill Laimbeer, Ric Mahorn, etc.  Marquette hasn't had many, or even any dirty players that I can recall since the Dukiet years.  If Kolek started with the cheap shots or dirty plays a la Grayson Allen or these other guys, he would quickly become Enemy #1 across the entire land.
The shaka sign, sometimes known as "hang loose", is a gesture of friendly intent often associated with Hawaii and surf culture.

Ah yes. Grayson Allen another hated one blast from the past. He of the loose leg kicking the defender in the nuts when shooting.

Grayson Allen is an absolute hero and his name should not be besmirched on this board.

Grayson Allen will go down as a legend and forever deserves to get a pass on this site and from all Marquette fans no matter what he does elsewhere in life.

Remind me why this is so?  I'm at a loss.

You can still find fans of other big east teams complaining about Theo John to this day. He's the only one other than Kolek that really comes to mind, based on what I hear.

Question, aside from TK who do you think has been a widely disliked guy by opposing fans from MU?

Davante

Quote from: Goose on February 03, 2024, 08:25:24 AM
IMO, TK is top ten villain of all time. He has the look and attitude that I would hate as an opposing fan, and he can flat out play. There have been plenty of guys that are easy not to like, but few that had TK's ability. I think to be an all timer, you better have game and TK has game.

Question, aside from TK who do you think has been a widely disliked guy by opposing fans from MU? I am sure Deiner bothered the hell out of people, but I am struggling to put together my list.

I remember people disliking Rowsey. And Hauser. I think it comes down to any guy who looks like your average suburban high school team mate who should be playing rec league while pledging a frat is hated for breaking that mold. That and any super aggressive players (ie Theo).
