Interviews PC fans, a prominent Georgetown blogger, & John Fanta.

Didn't see it. Who was "a prominent Georgetown blogger"?

Excellent synopsis.  The concept behind BE Films is great and the creator is just trying to fill an obvious void that the conference and its media affiliates have chosen to ignore.  Personally I enjoyed most of "Divine Providence".  I think they could've just left out the unsubstantiated rumors of Cooley having an affair and it still would've been a great documentary from the Providence perspective.  Its sad that we won't get to see 10 more films like it.  If the conference had any foresight though, they or their media partners would produce long form documentaries like DP as I believe its something that the fan bases would really enjoy.

Brass balls for making the film but the guy was in over his head. Judicious editing would have gone a long way.

I have wished for some time that the BE would produce ads that emphasized that the conference is first and foremost about basketball, not football. NIL will have much to do about which conference top level HS talent ends up in, but making a big deal about bball's prominence in the BE emphasizes what players and fans already know...in the BE, bball is king. Showcasing BE style bball and drawing more fans to the BE TV games draws more eyeballs.
Wild horses couldn't drag me into either political party, but for very different reasons.

Instead of doing stuff like this or the X/Cincy rivalry docs he should've done a piece of each Big East program's golden era. That would've earned him enough goodwill from the conference that he could get away with stuff like this documentary

"unimaginable?"

They'll manage it fine and it will be over by Thursday.

People are asking him to allow the DePaul kid to produce the last 10 episodes under his company name. Now that would be something.

What does the X/Cincy rivalry have to do with the Big East Conference anyway? Neither school was in the Big East at the same time. It's an interesting rivalry, but the conference has very little to do with it.

Dumb on Fanta's part to get involved with this project. Seems he realized it a little too late.

Cincy was in the big east at the time... but yes I agree it seems the topics the guy wanted to do docs on were more scandalous and to drive clicks rather than truly counter the narrative the 30 for 30: requiem for the big east pushed. Focus on us in the 70s or the buzz/crean years. Focus on Nova in the 80s and the weight years. Focus on getting UConn back. The years of second weekend success X had right before joining the conference. Etc

What else are you going to do for Xavier?  I think the Cincy/X rivalry is as interesting as any other potential topics for them.

Lol this Matthew Lebeau guy seems awesome.  "I compared him to Hitler on Twitter multiple times.  And I don't think that's inappropriate."  "Well, he seems like the kind of guy who would cheat on his wife, and then run from it.  I don't know that for sure.  But I heard it!  Everyone here knows someone who knows Ed cheated.  And the message board!  Not word of mouth, it's been proven that he slept with a student on there!"  "He's a scumbag who didn't mean anything he said or anything he did in this community."

The idea that he couldn't have meant any of what he said or was doing good things in the community for ulterior motives because he took a better job is hilarious.

Absolutely.

I will say this.  The best part of the "documentary" was when they threw in Kim English's Tweet about how he would've crawled backwards to play at Georgetown.  And how they call Ed a scumbag, but then talk about how great of a guy Kim English is.  After Kim, you know, left his prior job for a better job.  Same thing Ed did.

Shocked that the BE is distancing themselves from this.

I thought it was good but they didn't even need to bring up the affair IMO.  He looked bad enough with all the double speak.  Bringing Hitler up is stupid too.  Was that guy just a fan?

Fanta was good.  He didn't seem to stir the pot.

Slow day at work for me so got the chance to watch it. Came away with pretty much the same feeling. It was too long and the flow of it wasn't all that great, so I'd recommend only watching the last half hour at most as that is where the controversy was. I wasn't really that interested in what providence fans had to say about certain rumors and what not. The only reason that it's getting so much buzz is because Fanta's tied to it giving it more credibility than it probably deserves. Probably not worth your time to watch, but I do appreciate the effort it took to put that together.

The rumors were so rampant that the piece would lose any credibility if it didn't at least touch on the affair.

I'm still waiting for an official university press release before I believe any of those rumors....
