I'm not expecting Kolek back. Going pro somewhere. Hope I'm wrong.

Honest question-Would Sean be fully recovered by late summer to get ready for the '24-'25 season? Those damn ACLs (assuming that's what it is-have not seen a formal statement) seem to take so long to heal, or whatever the correct term is. Nova's Moore is an example of what I fear will be Sean's recovery time. So....IF Sean is not the guy, who is?

I'm expecting Sean to redshirt next and be a 5 year player.

No, he'll be in the NBA
i really like TK, but I'll take that bet. The NBA isn't looking for a guard that can't shoot, or go with the right. TK, check in, you got Holiday. TK, check in and take Hardin. TK, match up with Dame. TK in the GLeague checking JD Davison? Sure.

He was the BE coach who pissed off Shaka last year by saying something to him on the sidelines. There was another BE coach who he pissed off also by some remark. I think it was Cooley. Neptune seems like a real jerk. Rather than accepting that Marquette simply wanted to run the clock out, he screwed around by telling his players to keep fouling. He was probably upset about the Marquette crowd booing, although he richly deserved it.
Yes....and when Bamba fouled out with Nova down 14 points with under 30 seconds left.....he called his entire team off the foul line and motioned them all the way over to their bench for a pseudo free timeout. Unreal.

Interesting. If so, I think Rico's comment about needing to go the portal route rings true, even though it is not Shaka's preferred way.
There's a chance Kolek comes back, but that's probably just wishful thinking on my part.

Just a guess. Selfishly I'd like Sean to be a part of the program for 3 more years. I'm sure he'll be trying to get back to action asap though. I agree though that Shaka will look to the portal if Kolek leaves regardless of what happens with Sean. Kam and Stevie will only have one more year. Tre can play any of the three guard spots. Would be nice to add a proven guy with multiple years left. Personally, not really interested in a guy with only one year left.

My 4-year-old grandson was there today - his first Marquette game! My son just decided this morning to drive up from Chicago; got tix at Stubhub.

So I give Jack all credit for the big win!!

Thanks to Jack! I owe him an apple juice next time you guys make it to a game!

10.  Villanova has yet to receive the memo on how to defend us.

Wide open lane for most of the game.  We play beautiful offensive basketball when we are guarded like that.

I think it came down to OSO actually playing like OSO. He was absolutely awful against Seton hall with his layups and push shots from 2 ft out. He started hitting them again vs Nova.

Or:
TK, we are playing Toronto-go guard Malachi Flynn
TK we are playing the Clippers-go guard Bones Hyland

Tyler matches up pretty well with many of the backup PGs. Tyler can make a team IMO. He did shoot 40% from 3 last year, and if you take away his 2 game slide, he's right there this year as well.

Gillespie and Zegarowski were second-round draft picks, and Kolek is as good as they were, especially if he gets his 3P% back up to where it was last season. Plenty have compared Kolek to another 2nd-round talent - Brunson.

We'll see what story Kolek authors for himself. A lot of games left in this season.

Kolek is consistently showing up in mock drafts, even sneaking into the late 1st round in a few.

Plus, 2024 is looking like a historically bad draft.  Like 2013 minus Giannis bad.  2025 will be a much stronger draft.

Plus, we see players like TJ McConnell, Payton Pritchard, and Malachi Flynn in the NBA.  I think Tyler is good enough to be that kind of player.  A really solid #2 PG with elite passing skills.

PS- I hope Shaka uses the portal to add a one year starting PG to replace Kolek.  Too much uncertainty with Sean due to the knee injury.  Then bring in one of the elite 2025 PGs being targeted (Lewis or James).

Unless TK can hit a big score via NIL (over $750k) next year, I see no way that he is back playing college basketball next season. IMO, the biggest reason is his age, I believe he will be 23 in March. Aside from being old for NBA rookie, very old to be in college. To be honest, I would be disappointed if he did not chase NBA dreams after this year.

I love ya man. I agree with you that Shaka can't beat the BIG. But TK one of the top 300 players in the world? Forgetaboutit.

Kolek is a lot closer to being a first round pick next June than going undrafted or returning to school.  Its a really weak draft class for underclassmen and true PG play in the NBA is lacking.  A lot of teams could use a backup PG who can actually run an offense for 10-15 mins a night, and Kolek can do that especially with the spacing in the NBA.

MU82

If Kolek can regain his shooting form from last season (.398) and the first 13 games of this season (.435) - and/or if he can demonstrate that he's a good shooter during pre-draft workouts - I have no doubt numerous NBA teams would be interested.

There probably would be numerous teams interested even if he doesn't shoot quite that well because of his court vision and passing ability ... but if he does, a whole lot of NBA teams would see him as being very draftable.

Tyler will be on an NBA roster next season.

He operates the PNR at a high level. Is an adequate on ball defender who plays the passing lanes well. And there's a solid enough foundation with his jumper.

Right. NBA teams know guys aren't necessarily finished products. Look at how Jalen Brunson has improved as a three point shooter since coming into the league.

Stevie and Zaide.   Shaka sending those two out is awesome.

Hopefully the minutes for Zaide and Lowery will pay dividends down the road once Chase is back.

Pipe dream.  Shaka will always have to split minutes between Zaide and Lowery.  Guessing he'll favor the one with the hot hand.  ;D

MU ran with the starters for the last 7-8 minutes of the game. I'm guessing that will not be changing.

we'll agree to disagree. TK will not be on an nba roster next season, imo. I think he's a really good player, just not nba good...and will be happy for him if I'm proven wrong.
