Time for some Lorenzo Pietro Berra-isms (Yogi Berra-isms)
« on: January 11, 2024, 09:43:25 AM »
For the few remaining old folks that followed Yankee baseball they may remember Yogi's wisdom. While Yogi was far from a scholar he did have a few quotes that fit with Marquette's current situation.

Here goes:

o Baseball is 90% mental and the other half is physical

o Slump? I ain’t in no slump… I just ain’t hitting

o Baseball is a game of confidence, and overcoming failures and fears. That's what life's about too.

o I dunno. This game is getting funnier and funnier.

o The game is supposed to be fun. If you have a bad day… don’t worry about it. You can’t expect to get a hit every game.

o That's how I kept myself positive, by not getting all negative.

o It ain’t over, till it's over.

Walt Disney Quote:

o The difference between winning and loosing is most often not quitting

Nobody goes there anymore; it's always too crowded.

It gets late early out there.
Luke 6:45   ...A good man produces goodness from the good in his heart; an evil man produces evil out of his store of evil.   Each man speaks from his heart's abundance...

It is better to be fearless and cheerful than cheerless and fearful.

Not a Yogi-ism, but this is why the biggest game of the season is the next one.  Always.  Sweeping UCONN won't matter if we keep losing to the likes of Butler, Seton Hall, and Providence.

I have my own version of the most famous Yogi-ism:

When someone resorts to saying, "It ain't over 'til it's over" ... that's when you know it's over.

I don't know, I think I would still have immense satisfaction sweeping UCON.

A variation of "over" came after Yogi (allegedly) went to the opera. Asked what he thought of it, he referred to the final performance and said "it ain't over until the fat lady sings."

Another Yogism was "you can observe a lot just by watching."
