TyKo’s Super Bowl
« on: December 18, 2023, 09:29:17 AM »
The battle with English Enterprises is Tyler’s Super Bowl. Coming home as conquering hero.

Tyko had a great game last year versus Cooley & Company . I expect another strong performance this year against a tough Friar Five.

Oso and Kam will be big beneficiaries as Tyler likely to get everyone involved early. That is the beauty of Tyler’s pass first approach.

Would argue Tyler's super bowl will be in March. This is a redemption arc he wants to complete.

Personally can't wait to see if the striped shirts can improve on their +30 FTA margin for the home side.

I'm hoping it's in April.

As I remember, MU lost the game in Providence last year despite Tyler's efforts. Let's hope for a different outcome tomorrow.

Last year was the double OT game. Lost by a bucket the year before when Kur got tossed to the floor by Watson that led to an and-1.

Wasn't the floor wet? Not as bad as 2018 where they stopped travel calls but I feel like there was a moisture issue last year

Ben Steele weighs in:

Marquette's Tyler Kolek has gone from overlooked transfer to All-American. Is the NBA next?

Quote
There is a chance that Tuesday's matchup could be Kolek's final college game in Providence. He has yet to win at Amica Mutual Pavilion after the Golden Eagles fell in a 65-63 thriller in the 2021-22 season and then lost a two-overtime epic last season despite Kolek's college high of 29 points.

Yes, 2 OT game.

Kolek went for 29 and Kam/Joplin played great

Big problem was Hoskins who went for 29 points and 23 rebounds.  Who guards him this year, probably only Joplin/Ross.

And two years ago we lost by two. Justin Lewis' floater to tie it rolled off the rim at the buzzer. We've lost some heartbreakers there. Our last win there was in 2019....right before we collapsed.

John Fanta on the play by play. The Friars are 19-0 with him in the building.

That's it then. Muggsy needs to introduce Fanta to darkness.

Why did Devin Carter miss the Sacred Heart game?

No reason given: https://twitter.com/RhodyVault/status/1736094570268561792

But Devin and Floyd are expected back tomorrow: https://twitter.com/FriarsCapital/status/1736843738175975576

Maybe Kim English is doing some load management?

I am always skeptical of "minor injuries". It could mean a hangnail, could mean a cough, could mean they pinched their pinky lacing up some new shoes. It could mean anything. There was no concrete reason given as to why they missed time.

Fanta loves Marquette.   He should broadcast from a truck outside then.   Then again, noone is ever 100% , so…. We got that going for us.

“The Golden Eagles have looked the part of one of the nation's best teams in the early going, with their only losses coming in a tight loss to Purdue in Maui and an upset on the road against in-state rival Wisconsin. The start of Big East play is important for Marquette, which will have to hold off UCONN and Creighton for conference supremacy, but they have a tough first league game on the road at Providence.

The first year at the helm for Kim English has gone well for the Friars, who have started 9-2 with a nice win over the Badgers on their resume. Star forward Bryce Hopkins is still dominating for Providence, averaging 17.2 points per game to lead the Friars' attack while their defense yields just 63.2 points per game.

The Amica Mutual Pavilion has been a house of horrors for the Golden Eagles, who have lost their last four trips to Rhode Island. Marquette has its work cut out ahead of them to avoid getting tripped up by the Friars on the road. Upset Alert!”

Someone we know posted this quote on the wall between the locker room and the court at the Al. Someone told all the players to read it and the last guy tore it down quicker than you could say “Sorry, ain’t gonna happen.”

The battle with English Enterprises is Tyler’s Super Bowl.

He doesn't even know who Alex English is. And he rents from Hertz, not Enterprise.
