Heard a couple of tunes by them in an NYC bar while out with co-workers after our holiday party the other night.  I used to be really into them back in the day.  Forgot how fantastic they were.   Not many bands crank out music like that today.   Actually not many bands cranked out music like that back in the day either.  It must take a lot of musicians to create that sound so perhaps that's why?
Any scoopers know of similar bands they can recommend?  They don't need to be current, just similar.

Not the same, but if you're looking for offbeat and a little funky, check out the Voluntary Butler Scheme. Though it's actually one guy playing all the instruments, doing lead and backup vocals, then mixing it together. Multiplayer, Tabasco Sole, Trading Things In are all worth a listen.
