Oso: 5pts, on 2-5, 5 rebs, 2 dimes, 4 turnovers.  And he was never in foul trouble.  Crowl was 5-6 and gets 16 and 8.  This is worthy of highlighting because we can't beat good teams if he doesn't show up at all.

Congrats to UW. They were the tougher team and outplayed us from tip to finish. I thought the way they responded after our run was impressive.

MU has bigger fish to fry this year and they need to continue to learn and get better so they are peaking at the end of the year. Still a ways to go in that regard.

wisblue

We knew that lack of size was MU's weakness.

It now looks like a fatal flaw that's going to set the team's ceiling a lot lower than we had hoped.

Yeah it's just ridiculous. Insane rebounding disparity may send them packing in march

Give the rodents credit but what bothers me is we clearly weren't ready to play today.  Other than that run to begin the 2H we quite frankly were awful and not ourselves. Our two best players in particular did not play with the proper tenacity or focus.  I'll just leave it at that. Perhaps this will be a good wake-up call moving forward but I thought it was an extremely disappointing performance with everything on the line.  Gotta bounce back on Wednesday.

What, exactly, was on the line on the second day of December?

We played a strong opponent. Have to raise our game to play against quality teams on the road.

This. Also we can't get down by double digits in first half. Same in the Purdue game. A big hole to climb out of.

There are a plethora of things to be upset about and do not tell me this is a December game that meant nothing.  It's a rivalry game, a game in a hostile environment, and we are an experienced team playing for a #1 NCAA seed.   We
crapped the bed, period.

Here are some facts:  Oso is one of the best bigs in the country and he quite frankly did not show up.  There was a going through the motions body language that we all saw and it was inexplicable.  He looked a step behind and did not play with the force or tenacity that he has to moving forward.

Jop is driving me up the freaking wall.  There is zero, and I mean 0.0 reason he should be playing iso ball a la Carmelo Anthony.  There are a total of 3 things he should think about on the offensive end, that's it.  Take the catch and shoot triple, cut to the rim when it's there, and  move the damn basketball when guarded closely.

TyKo as well was not himself.  Part of that is a credit to the rodent defense but he can't wait to assert himself, especially when we're struggling in the h-c to score.  There is nothing Whisky did defensively that should have been a surprise to him, Shaka, and our entire team.

Our rebounding was a cataclysmic disaster.  There's no way to sugarcoat this, it sucked.   And while it's true the rodents had a parade at the FT line in the 1H, we were fking God awful the entire game. We rebounded with Kansas and Purdue, today we were stuck in cement.

It's one game and I get that I can overreact at times but this was an extremely upsetting performance.  I mean there simply is no explanation for example that at the end of the 1H Jop had the most shots.  Get our three best players the most shots, especially down the stretch.   In closing all I can say is we must play with our hair on fire Wednesday with 100% focus.

Badger Game Autopsy:
Someone here said it, I don't know who but good for you, for pointing it out. Who wanted the game more from the get go? It was obvious. The team that came out and hit threes or got carem rebounds and put backs. When that happens you can't run and you can't wear them down. It surely didn't look anything like we've seen, especially in the first half. I know it will remind everyone of the Kansas game, what a week ago?

In the second half they climbed right back because Oso played the facilitator and scored quite easily. There you go. The triangle and the inherent higher percentage shots. And then what?
A half court offence built around two sophomores who stumbled around trying to get a leaner in the lane. Lame. I'm not naming any names but please penetrate and pass until you're ready to be more physical. Let the stars do their thing. Kam did his thing. Still not hitting open threes because he's trying to keep the team in this thing so he drives and scores twos. He's watched plenty of Dwade tape to know how to do it. He can do it for stretches but he can't take over a game. He needs his teammates to contribute more than they did today. Gold hit a couple. Nice.

For what was at stake I expected more today. Surely disappointed. Kolek was decent. Played hard and missed some lay ups. His circus throw off the backboard that went in was a sight to see. The speculation earlier this week about the Badgers winning and their fans storming the court was met with laughter, and I myself didn't expect to see the finish today. Marquette played poorly. Don't ever let your poll ranking define your ability. It's a game to game thing. Move on.

Gold's inability to stay on the court due to fouls was a killer. Neither he nor Oso can get taken out of games with fouls.

warriors141

extremely disappointing. shaka failing to beat uw is becoming a problem. outplayed, outhustled, out-toughed. someone needs to remind shaka that this is an important game on the schedule and going 0-3 is unacceptable.

game against texas becomes very important IMO to right the ship

this will be all forgotten if we make a run in march

Oso had 2 fouls in 37 mins.   Gold did have 3 fouls in a flash but could have played more.  What's more disturbing was Oso's production today and that he was completely outplayed by Crowl. .  He has to touch the ball more in our h-c offense and take more than 5 shots.

tower912

So Oso should force it if he is well defended.     Which he was.   Force fouls and get to the line, right?

You touched on it above, but Oso and Tyler were both way too passive today.

No.  He should touch the ball more.  Crowl is not a combination of Dennis Rodman and Hakeem Olajuwon.

100% spot-on.  And where the F was the tenacity??   I'm going through all of this in my head and just can't figure it out.

i think a big part of the reason gold didn't play much was the dude was just getting torched defensively. I mean I know he ain't the fastest guy but my goodness he looked slower than molasses out there today

No question BG had his problems.  As did TyKo and our perimeter players in the 1H who made Klesmit look like Steph Curry.

Jop Solutions?  We really need him to find his role and game.
