Love that the attendance was so high on a Monday evening for a cupcake.  Hope the team gets the same crowd for every cupcake, and better for the big games.

Not just a big crowd, but that crowd, especially the student section, was energized!  In mid-season form.  It was really great to see for a cupcake opener.
The shaka sign, sometimes known as "hang loose", is a gesture of friendly intent often associated with Hawaii and surf culture.

The program is not just back, but at a level not seen in a very long time. IMO, the size of the crowd was extremely important last night and the crowd did not disappoint. Another box checked.

I am getting the Al vibe. My freshman year 65-66 the Arena (about 11000 and considered a large venue for college back then) was 50-60% full on average (5500-6600). My Sophomore year when George Thomson started playing about 70-75% with one or two sellouts. By my Junior year tickets were a premium and hard to come by, but as a student season ticket holder locked in at 16 dollars/season for two reserved seats, I was set. I was never really into college basketball until I went to Marquette and then to be in the top 10 in the country after I graduated was just so cool. Most people that I interviewed for a job recognized the school even here in Jersey. I hope the students now get to experience what we in the 60s and 70s experienced.

I am an old guy and my memory is not so good, but what happened in 2005 that we fell off the attendance cliff. Was it no more D Wade?

It is better to be fearless and cheerful than cheerless and fearful.
