I've seen schools put ropes up by the handshake line so people didn't go by the teams. Also, I thought the Bradley Center did a good job. They had barricades and security ready to go at the under 4 timeout.

I think it didn't help that Duke really didn't show much urgency getting off the court.

I'm not sure there's a great solution to prevent it, but I would expect it to be something teams start practicing a little bit. Once the buzzer goes off, they should try and head straight to the sideline.

Creighton security did a good job against UConn.  You can see the upper left of photo security took a rope and sectioned off the UConn bench so they had a easy path to tunnel.

Apologies if it was shared already, but Kam Jones already found the solution to the court storming issue.

Yes, I had forgotten about that. Seems to be a pretty darn good solution.

The only problem I could foresee: If it's a last-possession game, would they be able to get the ropes up quickly enough before the storming?

That is a great question. I am not an expert in physical security, but I would think the administration would let the facilities know "we might have a court storm tonight" and to have a plan in place to get the security positioned in the correct areas in the last few minutes of the game to make that path towards the tunnels.

Wonder what number of people qualifies as a court storm. If 10 people stormed the court, they’d be quickly tackled and arrested. If a 1,000 people did, then it’s all good. What about 100?

Ratio of students/rowdy fans relative to security is probably the barometer.  a storm of 50 may seem small to us and the army of security at the fiserv but on the other hand to the two retirees working part time security at a small school? Well they aren't about to stop those 50 people.

Just like the border. When the court is entered, arrest and/or throw out. Maybe the Czar can help out

So when thousands of students rush the court, they should have a bunch of Police sitting there ready to hand out tickets?  What if they just run on the court and jump around a bit and exit? Are we going to treat those people the same way as those who harass or assault a player or coach?

Now deal with the parents who inevitably call...and the students who decide not to buy tickets the next year.

And how do you manage this?

Anyway, here is my solution FWIW.

1. Develop plans to protect the players, coaches and officials.
2. Ticket and arrest those who conduct violent offenses.
3. Stop promoting them. (The image above was from this game. CBS seems pretty fired up about it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bscYWk_QRtg)

#2 gets it done by itself. The overwhelming majority of people who storm the floor are fine and having fun.  In many instances you can see most of the kids trying to give the other team a wide berth. There are some idiots. There are cameras everywhere. Find the idiots. Punish them.

Big games for the Marquette cause tonight:

Wisconsin travels to Indiana and a win helps Marquette unless Mike Woodson gets fired and they hire Shaka and Marquette hires Porter Moser

Northern Illinois travels to Toledo.  A Huskies win helps the Golden Eagles cause

Texas goes to Lubbock where a Longhorn win helps for seeding purposes

Notre Dame hosts Wake Forest and an Irish win would catapult Marquette up a seed line

Assembly Hall being evacuated with 10 minutes to go.

Fire alarms. You wouldn't evacuate a building with tornadoes.

So there's a fire in the building or a false alarm?
