UCLA's opening 11 minutes against Stanford would like to have a word

Believe me I saw the first 7 minutes of us vs ND, I know how bad they can be.

But this was incredible especially given situation. I think the least embarrassing play was Burton tripping and face planting with the ball on the base line for a TO.

Well

According to the goof on the left we are "good" but already have 2 elite wins

He's a pretty huge B1G fan iirc specifically MSU. The guy on the right is more objective about things. Also if you really want to cringe watch the clip where the left guy makes them do a white vs black draft. Painfully cringeworthy.

I even agree with Wadell on the Kansas remark that a team starting Emarko Jackson is questionable to be elite. KU keeps winning tho so not a terrible move, I just still dont think this is close to a usual Bill Self top 5 team.

But Illinois "with redacted" being elite is down right hilarious.

Its a win that will age well for us and they are good-great. But elite?? they dont have a damn PG. They lost to the two best teams they played.

Boat racing teams is good but I mean Mizzou is trash. Northwestern was Q3 their metrics are that bad. Rutgers? LOL. When your best win is FAU a mid major with two Q4 losses, you cant be called elite. Anyone who does should be banned from commenting for a week on hoops.

Illinois has gotten a lot of hype lately on power rankings and its been wild.

At the end of the day these shows are nothing but entertainment while we wait for our teams to play each week.

Field of 68 had Marquette as Title Contenders each of the past 2 seasons and they won 1 Tournament game.

All I know is that we are deep and if we are playing to our peak potential there isn't anyone this team can't beat.

That's all that matters.

How old is that? Michigan State in the Top 20? That must be from November.

No I think it was from after the Baylor win.

I'm I the only one that didn't realize the Big Ten has 5 teams that have zero Q1 wins and 5 teams that only have 1??

Wow they are having a down year...

An yet the title bar across the bottom is "Are The Top 20 Teams Elite, Great...."

MSU was tied for 32nd by votes after Baylor.

I guess that sums up the level of sophistication and intelligence we are viewing.

I'm not saying Shaka could had him.

But Nkhamoua from Michigan is a perfect example of why Shaka should try and fill holes through the Portal sometimes.

With him as a Omax replacement we are the run away best team in the country

Is that the transfer from Tennessee?  That’s who I was really hoping Shaka would at least talk to (and maybe they did)

Curious what people are thinking about the Purdue/Illinois game tonight. Should be a better game than Purdue has had in a while. I was a little surprised by the double-digit spread.

Home court and no Shannon...I get the double digit spread and I think Purdue will handle Illinois fairly easily. If the game was a little later in the season so that Illinois had time to adjust/retool, Purdue could have had their hands full.

Couple great games on tonight on FS1. Uconn @ Butler followed by Illinois @ Purdue. Ill be cheering for Butler and Illinois. Not sure how much this moves the needle for us having Illinois beat a team we lost to but that road win continues to look better.

I look at it this way- a furious rally to come back vs. the current #1 team but coming up just short of OT and a huge road win vs. Illinois. Now the UW loss? Yeah, that was bad but at least it was not on our home court.

The two teams we lost to have 4 Q1 wins apiece.  Neither are included in the 10 UWW2MU mentioned. We've played the top three teams from the conference (none @ home btw), all of which are in the top 15 NET. The conference only has 2 other teams in the top 50 (MSU at 23 and OSU at 36, each of which are in the list that only has 1 Q1 win). The conference as a whole is down, but we've faced the absolute best it has to offer.
I'll stick with my opinion on Gold.  He'll be in foul trouble within the first eight minutes.

Yup.  Marquette’s results up to this point are fine when it comes to obsessing over seeding come March.

This!   ::)

I wasn't going to go there... but there are basically 4 teams in their conference who have performed this year (very roughly speaking).   Of those, we played 3.  We won one on the road, took the best one down to the wire w/in one possession, and then of course we lost to the other.   I'm not losing sleep over that.

But the whole point was just surprise at what is going on.  Very much under performed as a whole in the non-conference this year.  Maybe we won't see them get an egregious number of teams in the tournament finally?

Right. Our three losses are Q1 games away from home. And we have two great wins away from home already. On paper, that Illinois win is one of the best for any CBB team all year. Top 10 road wins are not all that frequent.

Only three Kenpom top ten teams have lost at home. Illinois to MU. Duke to AZ. Alabama to Clemson.

That's an excellent win.

Completely forgot that Curbelo transferred down from SJ to Southern Miss.

Good to see he still can’t shoot, even in the Sun Belt.  Remember when people were saying he was a first team All-B10 lock going into our first matchup with U of I two years ago and then got completely locked up

I found the stat about MU and KY interesting. This is from an article @ NCAA.com about the top 11 teams in the latest AP poll.

No. 7 Marquette. Mark this down if the Golden Eagles and Kentucky last long enough in March to play. They have faced one another 10 times in the NCAA tournament, more than any other pairing.
